Created a second test server. Jumped from 11 games to 21. Renamed several players to have their game in their username. Feel free to request a change, if you do not like it. (Limit 16 characters on it.) Permits you to adjust any settings too, prior to the start of the game.

[Test Server #2 Link]

Server: archipelago.gg:63924

Released all of Civilization 6's items. Virtually guarantees an item to test if you are receiving items correctly.

Is not necessary to try to connect to this one, especially if you connected to the first one already. Reiterates that this is only a test. Do not bother progressing very far.

Attached some patch files for people. Should be everything that is not available in the room. Tossed in the spoiler log too.

[PokeCommunity.com] Archipelago (Completed)

Everything seems to be fine for me! Played for a little bit and I think I've got things worked out pretty well. It's fun essentially having to play through the levels in this game backwards and coming up with these unorthodox ways of getting through platforming without my upgrades.
That being said once we properly start if anyone sees my Rope Dart or Wingsuit they're extremely helpful, having both essentially cracks my entire game open.

If you're going to change mine to list the games, can you also remove the 'es' from the end of my ALttP YAML? I only did that as a way of knowing which game lol. (I mean on the final release, not this one lol)
Also I'll jump on later today!

I'd also like a name change, to "Expl of Time SC2". That period in the original abbreviation is hard to remember when I have to type in my username exactly.

It looks like, so far, the only games that haven't gotten an unlock yet on either test server are Arcaneum's FF12, Cherrim's Kingdom Hearts 2, CoolKid and Juno's two Stardew Valley runs, and all three of TwentyExEx's games.

If any of you have played one of these games and an unlock didn't register, let Devalue know so we can debug the technical issues.

Will probably go without testing those. (Welcomes people to do so, of course.) Concerns games that most or all of them have played before. Mainly waits for a first-time player on Discord to test their game out. (Created yet another test server for them. Did not bother linking it here.) Generates the game and begins once that is taken care of.

Edited the title to close sign-ups, also. Accepts any YAML changes you wish to make until the start of the official game. Currently at 23 games across 15 people, by the way.

I wanted to mention that Z1 works like a charm, but I'd like to make a couple of changes to it if that's alright. Mostly because I'm finding it a bit too easy lol.
Edit: I should also mention that ALttP worked well enough. (though I really feel my laptop's age with that one lol) I don't think there's anything I want to mess with in the settings for it this time, but in the event these happen more often, I'm gonna shift some things around.

Official Game Server Room

Server address: archipelago.gg:63098

Take note of your slot names, for those who need to input that. (Added the game name to several.) Attached all the necessary files below for people who cannot download them from the room. Hopefully got everything. (Will do this in Discord as well.)

Note: Shuts off the server automatically after two hours of inactivity. To start the server back up, simply go to the room and refresh it. Will probably not happen much with this many people, but be aware.

A useful tip: Recommends prioritizing the places you have access to immediately, without any items. Stands a good chance of holding something that progresses someone else's game. Feel free to be efficient too, of course.

Some useful commands in your Archipelago client
  • !hint [item name]. Gains 1 hint point per item that you find. Costs [X] hint points to redeem a hint, where [X] = 10% of your game's total items. Tells you which game has it and where. May only hint for your own items. Suggests looking at the spoiler log for Test Server #2, if you do not know what the name of the item is.
  • !hint_location [location]. Similar to !hint [item name]. Tells you what item is at a location you specify in your game. Costs the same as an item hint. Not super useful, but good to know.
  • !missing. Tells you all the locations you have not checked yet in your game. Helps you catch places you forgot or did not realize were checks.

Notes that not all games use clients. Likely accesses these commands in-game somewhere, in that case. May have slightly different formatting.

Offers to relay any hints to the Discord people. Just ask if you want that done.

Releases all your items automatically upon completing your game. Aim for completion when you can.
_____________

Good luck and have fun.

I was just about to go to bed and then you had to post this! Looks like I'm staying up for a bit.

[PokeCommunity.com] Archipelago (Completed)

It begins, I'm so excited! Good luck to everyone!

Alright, time to start!

Mission 1/83: Whispers of Doom

This is a baseless mission so my unlocks here don't matter much, which makes it a lucky first mission to have available. I have a hero unit, Zeratul, and several Protoss Stalkers, and I used them to take the planet Ulaan and plunder several useful items from the Xel'Naga Shrines and Zerg Hatcheries on the planet.

Since over the course of this challenge, I'm going to fight basically every faction in the franchise, play everything completely out of order, and use all three factions at different points, I'm going to throw canon to the wind and say my forces are an amoral band of space pirates that just want to raid everyone else for loot. Up to and including the franchise's Totally Not Cthulhu, Amon.

Our first treasure from a Xel'naga Shrine was... a Contact Lens. I don't know why the Xel'naga left this there, and nobody in Eot's Raiders has any use for it, so I gave it to Ness and his friends since they always seem to want random junk like this.

Moving forward, we slew a Zerg Hatchery and found a Pickaxe inside. I would have thought that the Zerg would have excavated this place with some kind of specially-evolved zerg species, but apparently they just used pickaxes. We sent this to Juno's farm in Stardew Valley. Right afterward, we found the second Xel'naga Shrine and it had a much more valuable reward than the last, a Volcano Badge! We sent this to a trainer named Jbsundown in the Johto Region.

Moving forward, we found another Zerg Hatchery and slew it, and found a book on farming to increase one's Farming Level. We are space pirates, not farmers, and we steal others' food rather than grow it ourselves! Since we have no use for this, we gave it to Juno too and wish her the best. The third and final Zerg Hatchery we slew contained a Rarecrow #8, a type of scarecrow, and we gave that to Juno as well for her farm.

The third Xelnaga shrine had some Jazz Seeds, which we gave to Juno's farm again. Ulaan seems to have had a lot of farming equipment here. Maybe the Xel'naga used this place as an agricultural world? Anyway, we had to retreat since a massive army of Zerg came after us, including the nigh-unkillable Queen of Blades herself, and our daring escape got us... 16 points of REP. Of course, being space pirates, we can't actually spend reputation on anything. However, the Bomb Rush Crew from New Amsterdam can, so we just lied and said they did the Ulaan Raid which should make them look cool and get all the REP in our stead.

You should probably add this to the opening post so we have an easier time referencing the server room, instead of having to navigate to a specific post on page 3. Also, I have what I need from my spoiler log now and I'd like you to delete it so I'm not tempted to look more. I didn't understand how hints worked earlier and they seem like a much more fair way of finding items.

[PokeCommunity.com] Archipelago (Completed)

I played for a good hour and a half and cleared out all the checks I had access to. It's a good time for me to go to bed anyways, I'll be in your care to unlock more for me!

Mission 2/83: Lab Rat

Remember how last mission our raiding party was nearly killed by the Queen of Blades on Ulaan? This made me realize two things. First, a squad of six Protoss is way to small to be an intimidating space pirate army. Second, Zeratul got us one of Kerrigan's hair tendril thingies before we had to flee the planet, and we happen to rent a cloning lab on the remote Umojan asteroid of XT39323. So... I cloned the Queen of Blades. The result was much less impressive than the godlike infested terran we fought on Ulaan, just being a regular Terran with Zerg hair.

Still, we bought some Zerg Drones from the Umojans and the clone seems psionically able to control Zerg just like the real Kerrigan, so we used a mineral patch in the lab to build a small army of Drones, and used them to raid the lab and plunder its experiments for ourselves. Plenty of those experiments were Zerglings which we could control, though we can't build new Zerglings just yet. Our Kerrigan clone wasn't able to make any actual combat-focused Zerg units at first, but we got reinforcements from Blind's Hideout in Hyrule: Swarm Queens. These aren't offensively strong and we only had time to build a few, so they didn't matter much, but we appreciate the help from our Hylian allies. We'll make sure to send you lots of loot once we get plundering.

While building our first Lair, our drone found a Safari Pass which we gave to Arcaneum since Kanto's too far from the Koprulu sector for us to raid anytime soon. An Overlord we built found the Yu-Gi-Oh card Necrolancer the Timelord stuck on a high-up window in the lab, and we sent that to Yugi back on Earth in Domino City. And while gathering minerals, our new Zerg hivemind inexplicably learned how to get better at fishing, despite being on an asteroid with no liquid water. We wrote down the tips on fishing and sent them to CoolKid's Stardew Valley farm, which should give him a new Fishing Level.

When it came time to raid the rest of the lab, we found a Potion and Dire Hit which we sent to 5qwerty in Kanto, a City Crest which we sent to the Knight in Hallownest, a Sacred Ash which we sent to Arcaneum in Kanto, and finally, when we destroyed the Eradicator robot, we found that it was powered by, of all things, a Bone Fist, aka a severed hand of Jack Skellington, which we sent to Sora in the hope that he might reunite it with its skeletal owner.

Okay, note to self, never, ever, EVER pick dark rooms lampless+random enemy shuffle again... >.> Death Mountain cave is HELL.

I am experiencing problems to connect. client says NO ROM was detected. I followed the process above: downloaded the patch, patched the game, ecc. The number of the port is right, the right core is selected in retroarch, the number of the client is correct. Not sure what Im missing. Is the aqmq flle right?

Sounds like something on the emulator side. Detects the ROM via LUA script in the other emulators. Presumably does that some other way in Retroarch (like the Network Command Port or something).

One idea: Close all your Archipelago and emulator stuff. See if you have SNI Client running in the background (in the Task Manager or in the bottom-right icons of your computer). Stop that, if you see it. May not have disconnected well before or something. Then try firing everything up again.

Edit: May also just magically work for some reason if you try again. Happened when trying to get Alex_Among_Foxes's Zelda 1 to work during test and 5qwerty's Balatro last night.

Avoids lampless for that reason. (Well, and not wanting to deal with Castle Tower's map while getting harassed by enemies.) Probably got sniped by rollers or a Lynel. Can go the other way too, though. Normally places bats near the exit. Traps some enemies in the wall, as a result.

Earthbound (Part 1)

Chose a random starting location. Began in...Tenda Village, one of the worst starting spots. Accesses one item immediately. Cannot proceed to areas around it without the Shyness Book (and/or the Hawk Eye).

Receives a free teleport location at the start too, fortunately. Went to Happy-Happy Village, which is better. Beat up some cultists, got some of the surrounding items, and absorbed the power of a Sanctuary location. (Needs 4-8 Sanctuary locations to beat the game.)

Lucked into getting the Pencil Eraser during these checks. Opens up the road to Twoson and more stuff. Found a lot of cops and general enemies in Twoson, which must be a randomizer thing. Got jumped by a cop and two dogs outside of a pizza place, and coincidentally received a Police Badge. Extends the time here even further. Tangled with Everdred in Burglin Park to gauge when Paula might come around. Hit for 120 damage and crit for 320. Indicates something mid- to late-game, which is not great. Needs Paula to beat the game (and also be a great party member).

Met a lot more resistance in Onett. (Scales enemies by progression.) Nearly got one-shot by a Skate Punk. Inflicted maybe five damage on them with a regular attack. Beat a lone Shark with PSI Rockin. Dropped a Charm Coin (a random filler item), which you get really late (~7th Sanctuary out of 8). Nearly doubled Ness's defense. Gained enough of a foothold to take on the Sharks and Frank for the remaining items.

Checked off the last available item when the Key to the Cabin came in. Yielded a single item, which was not great, if memory serves. Grabbed about 37 of Earthbound's 250ish items, which is pretty good for a first pass this early.

Civilization 6 (Part 1)

Did not see a lot of good things for Civilization yet. Mainly expected to tick off some early progression checks for others. Got a couple of districts, but nothing you can really build around. Received one Progressive Era in there, at least. (Needs Progressive Eras to enter into the next era, which is maybe...25-30 turns on Quick?) Appreciated Mining and Irrigation, which allows you to work all the luxury resources.

Set the difficulty to Deity. Chose Barbarian Clans, Secret Societies, and Monopolies & Corporations for the extra modes. Set it to Quick game speed, as mentioned. Usually plays on Standard speed. Decided to bump it up for this. Went with a random civilization on the Shuffle map type. (Could pick the Archipelago map, which is an actual Civilization map type, not a randomizer thing. Focuses too heavily on water, though.)

Cycled through a few leaders and maps. Avoided the religious civilizations, due to no Holy Site district yet. Passed on Joao, who is strong, but not without a Harbor District. Ended up fully surrounded by tundra as Poland, which was a big no. Eventually settled on the newer version of Saladin, simply because of it being late.

Was a garbage spawn location with weak resources. Only got worse when the barbarian spawns were terrible. Had barbarian camps north and south. Produced a couple Warriors to get through it.

Another bit about this: Chose Boostsanity. Means there are checks for doing the things that boost techs/civics (such as have 6 farms, mine a resource, and have a tier 2 government). Indicates which ones have progression on them. Adds some nice value to the techs/civics you get. Focused on some of those. Had no real intention of continuing this save.

Researched all the main things and got the reasonable boosts. Picked up Progressive Harbor in there, which is great. Called it there for the night. Noticed something odd in the client. (Cannot see it while the game is up. Hates to alt-tab for it.) Sent different items than what the techs/civics said in-game. Found a lot more progression than realized. Prefers not to fly blind, though. Probably failed to delete one of the files from the test run. Hopefully fixes it by downloading the mod from scratch.

Earthbound (Part 2)

Did not have tons more. Spotted even more items for Fourside, which probably indicates that should be accessible via teleport soon.

Bamphed into Dalaam, then Summers. Picked a fight with a Crazed Sign to gauge enemy toughness. Not too bad. Got over 1000 experience, which is way better than the 120ish from the Onett Sharks. (Did not scale experience super-well in the previous versions of the randomizer. Seems better, but not completely fixed.)

Tried to tackle the Kraken to get the last available item in Scaraba. Got absolutely obliterated. Thought about writing it off for later. Remembered the shop in Summers selling a much better bat. Grinding time. Wishes the Sharks were still around to farm Charm Coins off of, but oh well.

Farmed signs and cabs for a while. Generated money kind of slowly. Checked the beach south, out of curiosity. Battled a Tough Guy, who was, in fact, much tougher. Took 6ish attacks instead of the 2 the other things did. (Probably scaled the signs and cabs for Fourside.) Yielded a fat 9200 experience. Switched to farming beach enemies exclusively.

Raised the money for the bat. Set sail for the Kraken. Swatted it down, with some good healing. Won 57000 experience for that.

Bought the item in Scaraba (just a filler item). Tested the enemies south of town. 12000 experience for the Crested Bookas (or whatever the name). Went down pretty easily. Mentions the Dread Skelpion's stinger being nerfed (Inflicts a cold instead of poison), which means these are scaled to something easier than normal. Did not stop the Criminal Caterpillar from being worth 87000 experience, though.
