I preference dogs. I have the tolerance to deal with their quirks and I appreciate the absolute unconditional love that comes from them.

That said:

Please don't let your dogs run loose on the streets. If you can't responsibly own a dog then you shouldn't have one.

It's selfish and other people get hurt as a result.

I'm on team Cat! Always have been, always will be!

I like both, I should clarify! I'm currently living with a cat and a dog and while one definitely gets up to way more trouble and I give more kisses to one than the other sometimes, I love both of our little babies.
I think I've learned over the past several months I like when my pets want attention from me, but I prefer to do it when I take breaks from what I'm in the middle of doing, like leaving my room to go pet my cat rather than my dog being in our room and wanting to sit on my lap while I'm at my desk. I really vibe more with the typical cat personality (with them typically being more independent and mischievous than dogs) and I think it fits more with me being sort of alone and socially disconnected, I can sorta go in phases where I'll be high energy for a while and then want to be alone and do my own thing for a while, and I think that fits better with a cat where we just come to see each other every so often when we want something rather than a dog who wants to be with me all the time. Though again, they're both lovely little girls.

Used to like cats more, but dogs are my choice now.

I like how there's things to do with them. My cats are content to be inside, curled up on a chair, and sleeping for most of the day. But my dogs like getting out of the house. They like doing things, and in turn, that gets me up and doing things. Because of my dogs, I get outside and get exercise that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. I also have a hobby (dog training) that gives me a reason to get out of the house. And there are a lot of places that I explored/want to explore that I wouldn't have otherwise only because I thought they would be a fun place to take my dog.

Plus, dogs are more affectionate in the way that I like. Right now, my oldest dog is under my feet. And both of my dogs bark and act so excited when I come home. It's a nice feeling to know that my presence is enjoyed that much by other living beings.

There's also the fact that dogs are less messy than cats. My two cats have made a mess of the room that they spend a lot of time in, and that's just from the litter dust alone.

I could go the rest of my life without another cat. But I know I want to have more dogs in the [far far] future.

I've had a pet dog so bias wins there. I like cats too, but I've just enjoyed dogs more in general.

Weeeeell, since there's no Fox option... >.>
Slightly more seriously, though, I'm technically a 'both', cause I have both and love them both. BUT. I've always had cats, in fact, when my last one passed, I tried to take a break from having them, but I simply couldn't get over the horrid quiet that was left after he passed... So I got another right after I got through the worst of my grief. He's been with me for the last 6 or so years now and I wouldn't trade him for literally anything. Meanwhile I've never had a personal dog before I got my current one. She's absolutely wonderful (if a bit of a handful at times lol), but I can easily see myself taking a break from dogs after she passes (which thankfully is likely to take a long while). So it's absolutely cats for me of the two.

Definitely cats if I have to really choose. I'm not really open to lots of loud noises... and dogs do a lot of that. x.x I do love dogs since I have two cats AND two dogs so...

Cats. I've had too many negative experiences with dogs (both allergy related and having extended family members with super aggressive ones that they were too lazy to properly train.)

Haven't owned any pets due to those aforementioned allergies - though my cat allergies have significantly subsided in recent years (I can hang out at cat cafes!), I don't know if I could live with one on a daily basis.

Cats. My parents always had them and then I got one too.
As for dogs, my job made me kinda averse to being around them if I don't have to. I do sometimes come across good doggos, but they're unfortunately in the minority of my encounters with them.

Cats, 100% of the way. I have severe cynophobia (fear of dogs), and I've had cats at home my entire life.
