How much do you know about each aspect of Pokémon?

Say someone who really wants to get into Pokémon comes up and asks you random things about the series. On a scale of 1-10, how well do you think you'd answer for each of these parts:

    1) Games (including the mobile games)
    2) Anime
    3) Manga
    4) TCG
    5) Merchandise

How confident would you be answering any of these?

    1) Games
I know most stuff from around gens 1-7, though it starts petering out at USUM and my knowledge about gen 8 is only very little. I've not played LGPE but since it's mostly gen 1 stuff I think I can handle it just enough. I've not played GO but I know how it works by reading up on it. I think I'd give it a solid 7/10. And it's going to be a downhill walk from here. ^^"

    2) Anime
I've watched most episodes from the first few seasons up until Johto. I pretty much stopped there but I have watched the occasional episode here or there. Some Johto, some Hoenn and even some XY episodes I've seen. But all in all I'm not particularly confident about my knowledge so I only give it a 3/10.

    3) Manga
I've read the RB part but never really got into the Yellows arc so I stopped and never looked at it again. I'll give this a 2/10.

    4) TCG
I have a couple very old decks somewhere and I even had some newer cards when I got curious again and bought a couple boosters for fun. I still know most of the rules though, so I'll still give this a 2/10.

    5) Merchandise
I find this such a hard topic to pin down. I had some really old gen 1 merch including a small rubber ball with a Dragonite inside (still have the Dragonite), a couple of plushes from Burger King, a yellow Pikachu Pokewalker, a bunch of glowing stickers distributes in cereal boxes, a bunch of fancy cards from cereal boxes, a bunch of regular stickers and non-TCG cards, etc.
The only things that I have now are basically four plushes: two of which from the 20 year anniversary and another custom one I got a couple years ago. And I guess a couple TCG cards.
All things considered I'll still give it a 2/10 mostly because merch is just such a huge mess to wrap your head around.

    16/50
That's a very low score if I've ever seen one, so I wouldn't really be any help in anything other than the games. xD

    1) Games (including the mobile games): 7/10
    2) Anime: 5/10
    3) Manga: 1/10
    4) TCG: 9/10
    5) Merchandise: 5/10

I'd rank my knowledge of the games higher but I honestly haven't played many of the spinoffs so I don't feel confident in that area, haha. The anime I've had a pretty on-again off-again relationship with, so if it was developed anytime after 2010 I probably don't know about it. Manga.. I think I only ready the first one lol. TCG I'm actually pretty up on though! And with merch, well, I guess it depends. I follow and know about most Sylveon merch but not all of Pokemon. Still, I collect the plushes, figures, shirts, amiibos, pens & stationary, postcards, and pretty much most things so I had to give myself a few points there. :)

Games: 7/10. Knows mains series games fairly well. Never played Ranger, Mystery Dungeon, Conquest, Hey You Pikachu, some main series third versions/remakes, and little to none of mobile games. Probably some others too.
Anime: 2/10. Watched the Kanto series and little more.
    Manga: 0/10. Never read it.
Trading Cards: 2/10. Collected them through some of Generation 1 and 2. Was never a big player. (Enjoyed the spinoff game for the Game Boy Color, however.)
Merchandise: 1/10. Heard about the occasional plush. Owns some very old figurines too.

    1) Games (including the mobile games)
8.5/10 - In general, I do know the stories of all mainline games as well as have some competitive knowledge. The only side games I will be familiar with are the Mystery Dungeon games.
    2) Anime
4/10 - Not gonna lie, I've only watched some episodes of the first seasons when I was younger and more recently watched XY dubbed so my knowledge will be lacking about from "Ash is the protagonist with Pikachu and other companions and Team Rockets gets in the way from time to time."
    3) Manga
2/10 - I've only read the BW ones including some of the movie ones so.
    4) TCG
6/10 - I collect TCG and can probably tell if a card is fake and whatnot with some knowledge on how the game is played but that's all I really know.
    5) Merchandise
7/10 - I often keep up with merch news and collect them myself, still waiting for a Heliolisk plushie tho that Pokémon needs LOVE.

    1) Games (including the mobile games)
8/10 - I've played all of the main games. I haven't played Let's Go, the newer Dungeon games, the Pokepark Wii games, and Ranger games. I've played most of the Spinoffs (Stadium/PBR, Snap, Rumble, Colloseum/XD, Pinball, Conquest, and so on). I've played Go, but not the other mobile games.
    2) Anime
6/10 - I've watched through Kalos and watched most of the movies through that generation. Couldn't remember most episodic details besides the Kanto/Johto era because I had those two gens on repeat during the VHS days.
    3) Manga
1/10 - Never read it. I have read a summary or character bio on Serebii once or twice.
    4) TCG
4/10 - I collected the cards through Hoenn, but lost interest after that. I have several binders full of cards from the first three gens.
    5) Merchandise
3/10 - I have board games and figurines from the Kanto/Johto days. I have the gold cards from Burger King from way back. More recently, I have a Kyogre plushie. I thought about expanding my plushie collection, but I lack the space in my apartment. Plus my cat knocks down everything.

Games: I haven't played too many games, but I know the basic plot of most of the games (except for gold and silver). The main way I can play games is if I download a GBA or DS emulator and play it on the computer. I have played a lot of the mobile games though. I'll give this a 6/10.
Anime: I watch random episodes here and there, and the occasional movie every now and then. 3/10
    Manga: I read 2 or 3 volumes, that's it. 1/10
TCG: I played the mobile version for a while, so I have the slightest grasp on how to play. I also have a fat stack of cards, but I never use them. 2/10
Merchandise: I have some merch (but I'll always want more haha). I have 4 plushies, 2 plush keychains, Pokémon socks, a Pikachu jacket, an Eevee tshirt, an Eevee ears headband, a small Kyurem figure, and a Pokémon comic book (not a manga). Almost all of this stuff is from my friends. I'd love to buy from Pokémon Center someday. 4/10

Games (including the mobile games) - 7/10
    - this is the aspect of the franchise i'm the most well-versed in. i know zilch about the mobile games tho, especially Pokemon GO, so i cannot give myself a perfect score. i at least pride myself in knowing all the Pokemon, however my idea of what teams are good to use are definitely blurred now considering i haven't played anything past Gen 5 yet. i've been a casual all my life anyway, so i just choose which mons look the coolest. oftentimes those are the safe choices anyway lol.
    Anime - 3/10
    - i used to constantly watch it back when it was still on Cartoon Network and we still had cable at home. i never really followed the series actively at any point in time though, so i've never actually finished a season all the way (i believe that's a good thing tho considering how many filler episodes there are lmao). also, i stopped watching altogether half a decade ago or so, so i only got til like the Sinnoh adventures of Ash and friends before i called it quits, thus the small score. i can name maybe 12 characters in total (barring the Gym Leaders ofc bcs that would be cheating).
    Manga - 4/10
    - i had a really short phase in my life where i binged the ever living heck out of Pokemon Adventures. i can safely give this a higher rating than the anime, since i legitimately finished the Red & Blue arc, the Yellow arc, and the Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald arc before i got bored. 'twas awesome seeing just how savage the manga could be compared to the anime and games.
    TCG - 1/10
    - the most exposure i've ever gotten from Pokemon cards was Youtubers unboxing booster packs lmao. i had a lot of fake decks growing up, but i just collected them and never actually learned how the game worked. i cannot give myself more than one point as a result.
    Merchandise - 1/10
    - the only sense of Pokemon related merchandise i have right now is a non-legit Turtwig plushie i got as a bday gift. i've never been the type who likes to collect things anyway, so again, i'll be giving myself one point only.

Results seem close to what I expected!

    For me...

    Games: 8/10. I've played pretty much every mobile game to some extent, so I don't feel completely clueless there. Also played the main series since 1998 with no breaks. Only reason I'm docking two points is because I've barely played enough of the spinoffs. ;_;

Anime: 7/10. I watch actively right now (again, started in 1998) and feel mostly confident in it. But I also didn't watch most of DP, the second half of Unova, and almost all of XY, so it wouldn't be fair to rank myself too high.

Manga: 2/10. Those two points being because I read the original Adventures saga with Red. :D

TCG: 1/10. Even though I collected cards as a kid, I know very little.

Merch: 2/10... maybe? Also collect merch but not as heavily as many others, and I don't know anywhere near enough about the many merchandise lines we have. Just a bit, but not much.

    1) Games - Mobile games aren't video games Probably around a 9/10 for this one, I've played almost every Pokemon game released and I know a fair bit about them, even the ones I don't play. Gaming has always been my thing and I'm pretty confident about my knowledge in this area...the only reason I'm not arrogant enough to give myself a perfect score is because I haven't played every game, and I don't know much about the Romhacking scene.

    2) Anime - Errr, maybe a 6/10? I stopped watching at the XY season but I kept up with it, and I know what's going on with Journeys even though I'm not watching it, so I might be able to answer some questions about that at least. I know the older stuff very well though, and at the moment I've seen the majority of episodes. I keep meaning to rewatch everything (and write reviews as I go!) and catch up, but...god, there's so much of it now, and I'm a busy person. xD

    3) Manga - 2/10. I've read the RBY chapters. Then I got bored. Manga has never really interested me. I also know some general trivia about the manga, like the stuff about Jean Luc Pikachu - which is the best fucking name ever - and bits and pieces I picked up from Bulbapedia when I've been bored enough to look.

    4) TCG - 1/10. Card art pretty.

    5) Merchandise - 1/10. I know there are Pokemon manhole covers in Japan. I also know there are more plushies than I could ever hope to collect, some amazing nendos, and some very expensive rings. That's about it.

Games 8/10. I've played lots of spin offs, but I haven't touched the mobile stuff. I've played every generation of Pokemon games, and the spin offs I haven't played are conquest, gates to infinity, battle revolution and ranger. I even played Pokemon Dash. I haven't touched the mobile stuff too much, I did play Pokemon Go for a little bit with my sister.

Anime- 6/10. I'm familiar with some of the characters and I know plenty of the Pokemon Ash has had on his team over the years, I can recall certain events but I couldn't give a complete summary of the seasons.

Magna 2/10 The only thing about the magna i know is the adventures red rom hack which was based on the manga.

TCG - 1/10 I played the Gameboy Color trading card game, but the modern stuff is probably 100% different.

Merchandise - 1/10 I have a bulbasaur and a delibird stuffed toy, and that's all.

    1) Games - 9/10. been into the pokemon games my entire life and it's quite literally the ONE area of the franchise i still have any strong interest in.

everything else is "lol"/10 except for merchandise which i'd say is around a 5 or 6ish. i don't actually even own that many pokemon merch, but i still like keeping up with new merch releases as they happen.

    1) Games (including the mobile games)
    2) Anime
    3) Manga
    4) TCG

How confident would you be answering any of these?

    1) Games:
    1.1) G5 or before: 7.5/10
    1.2) G6 or post: 4/10
    2) Anime: 6/10. I assume this includes the movies and Generations, not to mention stuff like the PMD specials.
    3) Manga: 2/10. I know they exist, I know there's characters, and that's about it.
    4) TCG: 2/10. I know it exists and I get the idea behind PokéBODY/PokéPOWER and some later incarnations thereof, and I use them as data sources, but I'd be left adrift if I had to explain the rules of the game, let alome play it.
    5) Merchandise: 1/10

My strongest area would be the games because that's the only aspect of Pokemon I've continued with since early middle school. I'm pretty solid on gens 1-4, anything past that starts to get hazy. I only watched the anime up to the end of the orange islands arc, after that I've seen very few random episodes here and there. I've never read the manga, I only know what I've heard. I had a cd-rom of some TCG learning game and that's literally the only knowledge I have of it. and I don't buy pokemon merchandise at all. So basically I can't help you unless you got a game question lol.
