We're in the age of technology where many people have at least a mobile phone. A lot of us also have computers, tablets, headphones/AirPods/etc, and other things.

How often do you replace your phone, computer, tablet, etc? Do you replace yearly? Maybe every 5 years? Or do you keep your devices as long as possible, until they are unusable?

I hold my devices until they reach mummy status and can't be used anymore.

...okay, I do have the tendency to randomly swap my phone though. On the basis that I get bored and want to try something new out.

Only when my things break. i dont have the money for the newest toys :sadwick:

    Only when they break.
Had the same phone since 2021, same computer since like 2019.

The most expensive ones like PC and laptop I try to replace only maybe once a decade. It hasn't worked out that perfectly, but like my current PC I got after eight years of the previous. I just got a new laptop, nine years after the previous one.

Phones aren't built to last. SMH. Due to finances I had the same phone for six years from 2015 to 2021. I do not recommend. Earbuds last a lot shorter time, which is very annoying. I can't even say how fast I go through them, but it's pretty fast. D: Thankfully, I'm fine with the cheaper ones I can get for just $10.

I usually try to have a new phone every 2-4 years because that's usually when I start having issues and can justify getting a new one. I really like getting something like a better phone or computer or whatever because it's really exciting for me, but they aren't the kinds of thing I can or would go frivolously spending on. I got a new phone near the end of last year but my previous one was wonderful and lasted me about 3 years, and my computer is one that I think desperately needs replacing but I've had it for about 4 years now. So something like 2-4 years seems like the rough area I'd stick with.

Only when the life comes to the end. My flagship PC lasted for 12-13 years which we bought in 2010-11.

Smartphones last around 5-8 years. So no point in changing them. Samsung provides 4 guaranteed OS upgrades so device remains latest and at par with the newer devices. I don't use bloatware things and don't download stuffs on mobile, hence they should last long.

Televisions lasts very long. We were using CRT TV for 17-18 years and had bought the smart TV few years back when the CRTs at went out of order.

Washing Machines here comes with guarantee and support of 15 years for the core parts, so no point to get new one. Same goes for refrigerator.

I usually don't like to replace my device [phone, PC, laptop] until they breathe their last. Because there are some emotional attachments with my devices.

I usually don't replace my devices until they're on the verge of death pretty much.
I replaced my 10 year old laptop this year because it had picked up yet another issue and using it had become too tedious.

I only swapped my almost decade old phone (had that old Samsung for 9,5 years) because my job started requiring an app to be used while working, at which point I bought my first Smartphone. Which I then had to replace after like 4 years because it wasn't getting updated anymore and my job pushed the required Android version for the app up too high.

I keep my electronics till they break. I'm still using a VCR from about 2003, and then there's the phone I inherited from my grandparents that I estimate dates back to the 1970's.

Unfortunately my circa 1993 TV as well as my laptop started having issues more recently, so they had to be replaced.

I'm old enough where new technology is too much of a hassle to try to keep up with. Windows systems past version 7 suck, and I don't function well with touch screens, so I have no intention of buying a cell phone.
