Most Common Name the Year you were born

What was the most common name given to babies the year you were born?

For me, apparently, the year I was born, Emily and Michael were the most common. I can see that, because I can probably name at least 15 Michaels that were born around the same timeframe as I was.

babycenter.com says Emily and Michael for me as well, but they seem to have only surveyed the US. Unfortunately I can't find a statistic for my own country.

Girl names:
-Laura
-Maria
-Anne
-Michelle
-Lisa

Boy names:
-Kevin
-Thomas
-Jeroen
-Johannes
-Jeffrey

My own name is nowhere to be seen =D

Michael is nowhere to be seen, wow...
But which one is the top one from your list? Curious.

they are in order from top to bottom. So top one is most common, bottom one is 5th place popular.
I edited the numbers into the post you quoted now =p

Emily and Jacob were the most common when I was born. Seems right since I ran into a lot of people called 'Emily' growing up. I can't see my own name on the website I'm looking at but I saw Sophia somewhere way down the list. :D

You were born in the 2000s, right?

Sophia started becoming really popular in the 2010s when I was researching Popular baby names yesterday.

Emma and Marcus for the 1990s in general in my country, but idk about the specific year. I didn't have many classmates named Marcus, only one I think, but I knew several Emmas roughly my age.

If I remember correctly it was Jessica. There were a lot of famous Jessica's in the '90s.

A tie between Daniel and Alejandro.

It just so happens that I had two friends called Daniel (one I'm still friends with like what, 27 years later?) and one called Alejandro growing up.

The top 5's for my country would be:

For boys:
1 Thomas
2 Tim
3 Kevin
4 Rick
5 Mike

For girls:
1 Sanne
2 Laura
3 Lisa
4 Anne
5 Iris

Strangely enough I do know a lot of Tims and Lauras, but both #1's not that many really.

I don't know the exact position of my own name, but it's nowhere in to be seen in the topmost 100 at least.
