What kind of music did/do your parents like? Does it differ from your own choices?

My mother likes gospel music, but also likes some stuff by Ed Sheeran and Christina Perri.

I could not remember what my dad liked, so I asked her. Apparently he was into Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and generally old rock. He also played instruments such as guitar and piano. I would have never known this so I was thankful I asked. It also explained the large piano that was in our old home.

My mom loves the Rolling Stones, she'll react pretty badly if you say any bad word against them.

My dad likes hard rock mostly.

My father used to listen to a lot of different bands and artists. Some that come to mind: Queen, Michael Jackson, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Rammstein, Eisbrecher, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie and Peter Gabriel (probably Genesis, as well).

Music my mother listened to (don't know if she still does): Depeche Mode, Red Hot Chili Peppers, as well as some celtic(?) and sailor stuff.

I suppose, I'm kind of the weird one out with my listening to video game music. xD

My mom likes the oldies music from the 60s and 70s. My mom was a fan of The Beatles and she also likes the band Abba. My stepdad likes the oldies rock music.

Mum likes U2, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Sufjan Stevens, Nick Drake from the top of my head. Our music taste is somewhat similar, I've always liked most of the songs that she has liked. My music taste was somewhat shaped by the family made CDs we would bring on road trips which would have a lot of alternative rock and indie music.

Dad likes singing shows and will listen to whatever is on the radio. So a lot of pop I guess? Which I also can like sometimes :D

My parents like a lot of oldies, because that's what they grew up with. But my mom also likes some recent pop and both of them like country.

I do not much care for modern pop and I can not stand country at all. But as long as we're listening to 60s/70s Oldies, we're all happy. Lol. I love music from the 60s and 70s. It rooted from my parents listening to it, but over the years I expanded a lot to not just the hits but also more obscure music.

Mom wasn't too into music, but my aunt is a die-hard Lennon-McCartney fan. So growing up I'd hear her blast Beatles & solo career songs from those two all day. I love that she did that though; it helped to develop my ear at a very young age. I thank her for the rock-hard relative pitch I have today.

My parents' taste in music is about what you'd expect: my mom likes today's pop music, like Maroon 5 (good taste), and my dad likes rock from the 80s, 90s, and early 00s and has CDs full of them, but the song I associate most with my dad is Howlin' for You by The Black Keys.

    Hmmmmm

So my dad is easy enough to identify what he liked: basically anything Heavy or Speed Metal with pandering for MegaDeth and Black Sabbath

Mum is a bit harder: I'd say mostly pop of the 80s/90s melded with Motown/Rockabilly, but particular favourites are Bon Jovi, Wham, Bryan Adams, Evanescence, Paramore and Chris Isaac
