This is basically the problem ^^
They give me the feeling that I grew up, but Pokémon didn't :(
Spoiler:

An awful lot of that has changed in gen 8 but I get your point! Better playing Crystal anyway ;)

Mario and Zelda are doing great though, Odyssey is amazing, it's definitely a recommendation from me.

Never played Odyssey yet, even though I own it... must give it a whirl.

The main thing that keeps my love for Pokemon alive these days is solely the community. Whether it be LPers, streamers, ROM Hack makers, or Pokecommunity regulars. I wouldn't ever be as into this franchise if the fandom wasn't so alive <3

I usually just wanna see the new mons in Pokemon games and don't really care much for anything else.
(until I got addicted to shiny breeding, but shhhh.....)

The community is much newer for me as I didn't really partake in it at all until I signed up here lol
(definitely not regretting that decision 😊)

It's funny how we somewhat detached ourselves from the games to just love everything that's around them ^^

Fair enough. I do mostly challenges nowadays and when I want a harder experience I do a ROM Hack / difficulty mods but I get that's not for everybody.
I don't mind the absence of difficulty of Pokémon games though. Also, as Nuzzlockes are most of the time a self-imposed rule, I try to cheat and resurrect my dead Pokémon 😇

I so agree with you!

Not a fan of BotW, tbh. I probably just too different from what I'm used to in regards to Zelda games. I want my Grappling Hook and my fancy unbreakable sword! D:
Honestly I don't understand the breaking weapon mechanic in videogames. A friend let me try BOTW for an hour or so, and OMG the fact that you can't rely on your weapon annoyed me so much XD
And as a pretty complete Skyrim player (300+ hours), I like to collect and display a variety of weapons.
I saw critics defend this mechanic but to me it's a passion-killer. It's like they didn't want the game to be perfect so they added something to annoy the player XD

There are more to challenges than Nuzlockes and personally I don't think Nuzlockes are that great either because they're just punishing and promote the annoying - to me at least - part of the games (grinding), but at the end of the day it's still a way to have fun, if you're having fun with the vanilla experience, that's great!

Nuzlockes would need a very high amount of planning time in order to really be done "flawlessly" and not many people really have the patience and time for that, uh? But I can see the appeal at least - and that's even more true if you're just looking for some thrill... or some Youtube clicks :woop:

Oh wow! What're some shinies you've found through breeding? What are some that you're currently hunting for?

Currently completing the National Dex in BDSP so the shiny breeding is on pause atm.
But before that the most recent ones were me Shiny breeding the entire Bagon line and Galar Ponyta line ^.^
So basically breed 3 shiny bagons and then keep one as Bagon, evolve on to Shelgon and evolve the third all the way to Salamence.

Once I return to it I'll probably either shiny breed the Goodra line or pick up where I left off with the eevee line (my sig pic is basically a progress tracker for eeveelutions I've shiny bred lol The ones with balls have been shiny bred in that ball, the ones missing a ball haven't been done yet).

you all do shiny breeding? where do you find the patience?
+1
However, I used to watch a shiny-hunting streamer, and for him, shiny-hunting was like a relaxing break after a hard day of work.

I don't and I don't, lol.

Some people enjoy highly repetitive things - it's meditative, I gather - but that's not for me. Although I suppose that it could be more fun in LGP/E, I suppose given the dynamics of how that works - active participation and all that.

Oh wow! Finding three shinies of one Pokemon. That's some insane luck, good luck!

I once did shiny hunting a while back. Tried for about an hour and gave up :( I have basically 0 patience
