[Pokémon] The Glacial Gathering: Ice Types Fanclub

What would be your team if you yourself were an Ice type specialist?
Could be the team you'd use if you were a Gym Leader or perhaps what you'd like to use as an E4/champion or maybe you'd just be a strong hidden trainer you can fight after beating the game and this would be your team. It's fully up to you =3
Could also answer with a team for each of those if you want to.

For me, I think I'd currently go with this team if I were an Ice type E4:
-Alolan Ninetales
-Glaceon
-Mr. Rime
-Mamoswine
-Galarian Darmanitan (Zen Mode)
-Baxcalibur

Probably in that order. I'd set up Snow with Alolan Ninetales and would try to make use of it with Glaceon & Mr. Rime. The second half of my team is more intended as heavy hitters.

Was very hard for me to narrow it down to six. I also wanted to put Iron Bundle, Eiscue, Frosmoth, Weavile, Walrein, Lapras and Cloyster on there. All of them can be very good imo.
Like Frosmoth is kicking butt for me right now in Scarlet/Violet and I've used Skill Link Shell Smash Cloyster in the Battle Tower in SwSh and it was a menace that only went down a couple times.

What would be your team if you yourself were an Ice type specialist?
I will choose following:

Calyrex-Ice
Mamoswine
Aurorus
Walrein with thick fat
Weavile
Iron Bundle

Weavile might be suicide lead or switch, Iron Bundle will provide some play with speed. Mamoswine is handy with Ground coverage, whereas Calyrex-Ice will just outbulk opponents with Subseed formation.

What would be your team if you yourself were an Ice type specialist?

Maybe a Gym Leader with Sneasel, Frosmoth, and Alolan Sandlash? I also like to think I'd have a little Vanillite (maybe Shiny), but probably just as a mascot. Rematch team might include Avalugg, Froslass, Glaceon, Frosmoth, Alolan Sandlash, and Weavile. Just some of my faves, barring Lapras since I don't think I'd live near any large bodies of water. Maybe Walrein if I can have it and the non-battling Vanillite. (I could evolve Vanillite for Snow Warning but I don't wanna!)

What would be your team if you yourself were an Ice type specialist?
Hoo boy okay time to think about this.
So definitely want Arctozolt for my ace.
Alolan Sandslash
Baxcalibur
Lapras
Hisuian Avalugg
Anddddd Galarian Darmanitan!

So, I think that would def be the e4 team. I have.....NO reasoning for any of it other than type variety and I like them :D

For a regular gym leader team, babies :D
Arctozolt Ace
Alolan Sandshrew
Galarian Darumaka
Frigibax

Amongst the Paradox Pokemon, Ice is one of the rarer types; existing only on Iron Bundle. In contrast to say Psychic and Dragon which each have 4 Pokemon in representation... though including the box arts that would be 6 for Dragon.

Are there any non ice type Pokemon you would have liked to have seen get a Paradox ?

Are there any ice type Pokemon you would have liked to have seen get a Paradox (aside from Delibird) ?

I'd like to turn Luvdisc into a strong pokemon. I imagine A future form for it that is a broken heart, incased in ice, symbolizing how loss has turned it cold. I would give this part water and ice pokemon the lore of failing to save it's trainer from drowning, and in guilt remaining at the bottom of the sea, vowing to never love again.

Let's also make Mightyena a beast, and draw inspiration from some mythological wolves like the Amarok from the Inuit people, giant wise, otherworldly artic wolves that can howls up blizzard and can snatch away the spirits of those who cross them. They would make a perfect ice dark past Paradox pokemon

Are there any ice type Pokemon you would have liked to have seen get a Paradox (aside from Delibird) ?

Always liked dewgong, and would love to see it get some more attention, so it would be my first choice for a Paradox form. Since dugong of our world are thought to be the closest living relative of the extinct Steller's sea cow, I think it would be cool if the steller sea cow was remembered in all of it's glory as a past Paradox for dewgong. Let's make it an ice dragon, dragon to reinforce it as a big, wondrous, chthonic mysterious creature.

Decided to make a paradox form out of cubchoo while we are at it. Since the polar bear population is being devestated by our climate crisis i thought it could be interesting to have a future form of a polar bear that survived by becoming smaller, being based on cubchoo rather than beartic it could live on smaller quantities of food. Guess I will add a psychic typing to make it different too. Polar bear eyes can filter out uv light to see, so what if in the future this became an X ray vision to find hidden sources of nourishment? Heck, let it have a steampunk style monocular to make observations with, and be a bear cub genius

Ariados. Selfishly I want to see it get buffs. Thematically, the idea of a Paradox form where it's like the ancient critters that were HUGE would be really cool. Just a big ol' nasty bug causing trouble. I'd probably keep the Bug/Poison typing, but if the change was mandatory then probably Bug/Dark or Poison/Dark.

Are there any ice type Pokemon you would have liked to have seen get a Paradox (aside from Delibird)?
I kinda like the idea of Cryogonal but a Future form where it's more like a spirit or something in say cryostasis?

An ancient Ice-type Persian based on a saber-tooth cat would've been lovely, though perhaps a bit awkward alongside the long boi. I'd hope that Normals would be exempt from the "keep 1 type" rule so as to avoid the double weakness.

Can't say there are any Ice-types I wish had gotten Paradoxes, but a future Lapras probably would've looked cool (though I imagine they'd have dropped Ice in favor of Water). A Dark/Ice (or perhaps Ice/Ghost) Alolan Sandslash inspired by Sonic.exe could've also been interesting.

The Gift of Surprise Event
Year 4 =D

Today marks the start of an event in collaboration with:
-Ariados's Web (Bug & Poison types).
-Dragon Ascent (Dragon types).
-Spirit of Steel (Steel types).
-The Cosmic Channelers (Psychic types).
-The Spirit Sanctuary (Ghost types).

You have the whole of December to participate in it. The goal of this event is to spread some Pokemon love through Wonder/Surprise trade during the season of giving =D

[PokeCommunity.com] The Glacial Gathering: Ice Types Fanclub

You do not have to be in any of the clubs to participate!
You just need to go to one of the participating Type clubs (all linked above + this one, of course) and indicate that you are there for the event when posting your box of mons. You can then be 'Honorary members' of that type club. And who knows, maybe you'll like the club and stick around? =3

For anyone who is in multiple type clubs or no type club at all: you can just pick the type you wish to lend a hand and participate for!
If you have enough time and are willing to, you can also participate with a box of mons for each of the other club 'teams' too if you want! (one box max per club 'team')

To mix things up a bit and since returns of the same type being sent out have been a bit on the low end in past editions, I've paired up the participating type clubs with Psychic being the odd one out as I felt it stood the best chance out of the type clubs participating for decent returns by it's lonesome. Also, this way Ariados's Web can participate for both of it's types, since it's the only participating club that's for 2 types.

For the club pairs:
-Psychic by itself.
-Dragon/Steel are paired up.
-Ice/Ghost are paired up.
-Bug/Poison is in itself a pair of types in the same club.

Changes for the box you submit:
Since there's now a two type club and others are paired up it's up to you how to submit for them. Think of the above as 4 'teams'.
You can submit for either type, in each team, if it has more than one type as long as you don't send out more than 1 full box for that team in total.
You can make an even split between the 2 types that are sent out, if you prefer, or any ratio you want.

For example: Say you want to submit for the Dragon/Steel club team. You can:
-Send out a full box of Dragon types.
-Send out a full box of Steel types.
-Send out a box that has 15 Dragon type and has 15 Steel types.
-Send out a box that has 6 Dragon types and has 24 Steel types.
-Send out a box that has 28 Dragon types and has 2 Steel types.
-Etc.

Rules:
-You can Wonder/Surprise trade ANY legitimate mon for the type club you want to participate for, as long as it has the typing of one the type clubs in that team!
If, for example, you're participating for either the Ghost or the Ice Club, your box of mons need to have either Ghost or Ice as one of it's typings! As such Ceruledge does count as a Ghost type, but Charcadet does not.
If a mon gains one of the participating types via a trade evo you'll need to have it hold the evolution item for it to count (for example: Seadra with no item does not count, but Seadra holding the Dragon Scale will evolve into Kingdra upon being traded and does count!)
Beyond that, the mon choice is completely up to you! Just make sure you're actually okay with trading it away if it's something special like a shiny, legendary or has PokeRus etc.
If you don't have enough mons you can go breed or catch them!

-If you're giving away a legendary or shiny, you can offer these up in a [Giveaway] thread in the Trade Corner.
Just make sure they're the right type and that you actually end up trading them; they won't count until you've actually traded them! If you do this, then when submitting you need to link your [Giveaway] thread in addition to your before/after pics!
If successfully given away you can reduce the amount of mons you need to Surprise/Wonder trade by however many shinies or legendaries you gave away.
If for example you gave away 3 shiny Ice types in your [Giveaway] thread in the Trade Corner, you'd link your thread and then provide before and after pics of the other 27 Ice types that you surprise/wonder traded away to get the required total of 30 mons traded.
Keep in mind that this is optional and if you prefer to send any legendary or shiny mons off through Surprise/Wonder trade instead, that's perfectly fine too! This is just meant as an alternative for more special mons.

-Tera types that match the team you're giving away for count, but you'll also need to offer these up in a [Giveaway] thread in the Trade Corner.
Just make sure they're the right type and that you actually end up trading them; they won't count until you've actually traded them! If you do this, then when submitting you need to link your [Giveaway] thread in addition to your before/after pics!
If successfully given away you can reduce the amount of mons you need to Surprise/Wonder trade by however many matching Tera types you gave away.
If for example you gave away 5 Psychic Tera type Pokemon in your [Giveaway] thread in the Trade Corner, you'd link your thread and then provide before and after pics of the other 25 Psychic types that you surprise/wonder traded away to get the required total of 30 mons traded.

For Scarlet/Violet, if you receive any Tera Types matching the club team you're giving away for during Surprise Trade, on mons that don't have them as part of their normal typings (say for example an Dragon Tera Oinkologne), then I'd recommend putting one of them in your top row of your box and hovering your cursor over it just so I can see one of them on the screenshot without requiring any additional images.
For any additional mons that don't have one of the club team's typings as part of their normal typings, but do have it as their Tera, just type them out.

-Make sure you post your submission in the corresponding type club's thread! This is so all participating clubs can get activity out of this.
If you participated for Dragon Ascent with a box of Dragons, go post in their club. If you made a split box, just post in whichever club type in that team had the majority. If it was an even split you can just choose either club of that team.

Deadline is midnight on December 31st to January 1st.

To recap:
In the following order:
-Try to gather a box full of mons (30) to trade away for the type of your choice. For clubs that are paired up as a team it just needs be 30 of either or both types.
-Don't forget to take a screenshot/photo before you send them off!
-Then Wonder/Surprise trade them all and keep what you first receive for your mon! So no endlessly trading till you have a full box of same type mons back.
-Take a screenshot/photo again.
-After completing the Wonder/Suprise Trade, list/mention which mons of that Pokemon Type you got back again. If you're submitting for a type that is teamed up with another type than mons of that other type also count, of course.
Note: Dual types that match both types in a team only count as 1 Received back. This also applies to Tera as already mentioned. For example: Ariados with a Bug Tera counts only as 1 mon received back for the Bug/Poison club, not 3 (Bug/Poison + Bug Tera).
-Don't forget to include the Before and After screenshots in your submission!

If you managed to Surprise/Wonder Trade 30 mons of your chosen type club's team away and provided the before & after screenshot then you've completed this event =)
If you didn't manage to complete the event this year, you can try again next year! =)

People who do not reach the goal of 30 can still add to their type club's same type received back totals. Just post what you did get done!

VPP:
If you complete the objective for any of the participating club teams, you have also earned the right to claim either a Delibird or an Iron Bundle VPP.
Choose whichever of the two you prefer =3

Whichever club team receives the most mons of it's type back will be the winning club and receive the Generous Gifter Trophy:

Submits an entry for Team Ice/Ghost for the 2024 Gifts of Surprise event. Bred 15 Ghosts and 15 Ice types. Decided to post here. Used Pokemon Home (free version), due to not having a Switch Online subscription. Split it between two boxes. Did not want to trade/delete an Alolan Rattata or Spinda who could not be deposited into any game.

Wonder Traded the following:
  • 5 Avalugg: Minimum 5 perfect IVs. Maxed out their Hitpoint and Defense EVs. Minted them to Impish (from Sassy). Taught all of them Body Press. Has the hidden ability (Sturdy) too, despite not really being that great for Tera Raids. Leveled all of them to 100. Might be a useable Pokemon for the upcoming Rayquaza raid, if purely physical.
  • 10 Snorunts: Minimum 5 perfect IVs. Has the hidden ability (Moody). In a Premier Ball. Not too fancy, but different.
  • 5 Basculegion: Minimum 5 perfect IVs. Level 59. (Needed to level them to rack up recoil damage on Chansey/Blissey.) Timid nature.
  • 10 Hisuian Zorua: Minimum 5 perfect IVs. Was either Jolly or Timid.

The important result: 5 Ice or Ghost types (Hisuian Zoroark, Rotom (base), Alolan Vulpix, Snorunt, and Galarian Mr. Mime).

Other things of note: Received a Snorunt (level 40) in return for a Snorunt. Safari Ball + Marvel Scale + Extreme Speed for one of the Dratini. Checked the level 75 Blissey. Was a Normal Tera type.

IIRC, it still asked for billing information, which I'm not comfortable giving out (I've only ever paid via eShop card).

Same here with the eshop cards. I don't remember needing to give them that info when I got the 12 month sub with eshop money, but that was around 5-6 years ago, so my memory could be faulty or things could have changed.

Sent out a box of 15 5IV Docile Haunters so that they would evolve into Gengar. Made sure all their Sp. Attack had a Best.
15 5IV Calm Froslass'. Made sure their Speed had a Best.
No special balls/HA.

Mons I received back:
Spoiler:

Received back 3 Ice or Ghost types: Gimmighoul, Alolan Vulpix and a Cetoddle with a Ghost Tera (the irony of getting one of the two types as an off type Tera, but it already counted for the other type lol).

Also saw a Psychic Tera Dratini and and the Gimmighoul had a Poison Tera. There were some other Teras, but nothing relevant such as Water on the Alolan Vulpix.
This box would've gotten me 3 entries if it had been for the Bug/Poison club (Scizor + Tera Poison Gimmighoul + Ekans).
This box would've gotten me 2 entries for the Dragon/Steel team (Scizor + Dratini).
This box would've gotten me 2 entries for the Psychic club (Slowking + Tera Psychic Dratini).

Edit:
Probably should've posted this in the Ghost club in retrospect given that it's the common type for all 30 sent out... oh well, already posted lol
