I guess we really are spoiled in Europe. We can just hop on a train or plane and visit other countries, without even needing passports.

yeah exactly. things are preeetttyyy spread out over here in the US. while I suppose you could take a train to a different state, it really depends on where you are and if there's a train that services where you're at and what state you want to end up in. most cases you might as well hop on a plane, though.

In NYC we have Amtrak trains which can take you across different parts of the state (and some of Canada), but that's ofc pretty expensive. Europeans are lucky that they can go to different countries easier, but people forget how huge the US is and why getting around the country itself is hard....

I'm mostly kidding though, trains are much safer.

That title is wow, poor DCC. Stuff like Discord has made it obsolete.

I was always pretty bad at group chats in the past which is why I'm still kinda surprised I hang around Discord lmao.

I feel like I've gotten used to both the forum atmosphere as well as the live chat atmosphere so I'm fine in either. Thank goodness that the MSN and Skype group chats back in the day helped me with getting used to bigger chats as a whole.

Facebook Messenger is where I got used to group chats. Back in the Yahoo days I used to just chat people one-on-one. :)

I find DCCs usefull for spouting out random ideas that are too small for their own threads. It's one reason why I don't like seeing them gone in so many places. But yes, I'm aware that people don't want them anymore.

I was probably one of the first who moved on from Skype to Discord. However, I find myself rarely using it, anymore. Partially because still no internet at home and for the time being. Partially, even after so many years, I'm not a fan of the social media type of conversations that people do these days. It's one of the reason why I also only rarely post anything on twitter. There's simply no deeper meaning behind anything anybody says...

Needless to say: I never was on Facebook. Sure, some people wanted me to be, but I never saw the point.
