Things that happened on your birthday

Do you know of any important events that happened on your birthday, be they historical or current news events?

My birthday marks the date that most historians consider the day the Roman empire fell. It was on a September 4th 1,545 years ago that the child emperor Romulus Augustus was deposed, and would be the last emperor to rule the west. So I have a world superpower collapsing on my birthday. I chose to make my entrance into the world on quite a dramatic occasion, if I do say so.

What about you fine folks? Tell us something that happened in the world that coincides with the day and month you were born on. It does not have to be the same year, though it can be.

Wow, that sounds cool, and a bit scary!

As about me, nothing special I know of, unless I do a bit of research on it! Mine is on 12 Oct, BTW!

A quick look around yielded a couple of things such as September 5th being one of the two days that the Reign of Terror in the French Revolution is considered to have begun, and "Russian Tsar Peter the Great imposes a tax on beards"

My birthday is July 1st:

- I share my birthday with: Diana, Princess of Wales, Missy Elliott & Forrest Griffin / Liu Bowen is the first known person to be born on the same day as me back in 1311.
- Forrest Mars Sr (M&M's and Mars bars), Marlon Brando & Renaldo Benson (4 Tops) have all died on my birthday with Totila being the first in 552.

I also get Canada Day. :D and the half way point in the year.

1903 - the first Tour de France takes place
1908 - SOS is made as the international distress signal.
1980 - O Canada becomes the national anthem of Canada
1984 - MPAA introduces the PG-13 rating.
2007 - England bans all smoking in indoor public places.

the most interesting thing I can find is

2002: The possibility of water still existing on Mars was made known on this date.

that's rad though

An empire collapsed on your birthday too! It was the Babylonian empire. Babylon fell on October 12th 539 BC. So we both brought down some civilizations!

Also Edith Cavell, the English nurse who set up a red cross hospital treating soldiers on all sides during WWI, died a hero on October 12th, 1915, bravely facing down a German firing squad. She secretly ran an underground resistance network that helped smuggle hundreds civilians and allied soldiers out of occupied Belgian, and spied for the allied forces, passing the British government information to help them win. She had also previously won a medal for her services during a typhoid outbreak, was head of a nursing school and introduced a lot of modern medical techniques that saved lives. Amazing lady.

Wow, haha! I have read a bit about the Babylonians, so that's cool we both brought down empires! >:)

Also, that nurse is a great lady! May she rest in peace. :')

My birthday is VE day, which was the end of World War II in Europe!

There was also a final album released by some group called The Beatles :)
Yep, heard they were quite popular! ^_^

Lots of bad stuff looking at this list. Wars, massacres, killings, a certain bad book I refuse to name was published, bombings, natural disasters.

But there's a couple non-bad things I guess:
1389 – France and England agree to the Truce of Leulinghem, inaugurating a 13-year peace, the longest period of sustained peace during the Hundred Years' War.
1507 – In Brussels, Prince Charles I is crowned Duke of Burgundy and Count of Flanders, a year after inheriting the title.
1812 – The Treaties of Orebro end both the Anglo-Russian and Anglo-Swedish Wars.
1841 – Coronation of Emperor Pedro II of Brazil.
1966 – Human spaceflight: Gemini 10 is launched from Cape Kennedy on a 70-hour mission that includes docking with an orbiting Agena target vehicle.
1968 – Intel is founded in Mountain View, Califo
1976 – Nadia Comăneci becomes the first person in Olympic Games history to score a perfect 10 in gymnastics at the 1976 Summer Olympics.

In 2004, there was an indian ocean earthquake tsunami. I can't find much else about December 26th though. This seems to be the only result that pops up.

My birthday was earlier this week. Some friends gifted me some vidya and I played some Doom Eternal.
