Today I learned that apparently it wasn't possible to manually change the form of Deoxys in Gen III? Having grown up with Gen IV I just assumed there were meteorites in the Mossdeep Space Center or you could use the white rock in the city or something and do it that way. Apparently it just switches form depending in what game it's in, and will alwyas be locked into Speed form in Emerald until you trade it away to another game. Seems a bit frustrating at the time, but really cool looking back.

Til that there is such a thing as water pie. It's a recipe from the great depression. Poor Americans baked this when they wanted to share a dessert with loved ones, but didn't have the ingredients to make much, so they filled up a pie shell with mostly water and sprinkled what flour, sugar, butter or spice they had on top, and baked the flavored water into a pie. It honestly doesn't look so bad, could resemble an egg custard or maybe creme brulee.

Today I learnt about Furoshiki. It's the Japanese art of wrapping things in cloth. It's an interesting and reusable alternative to wrapping gifts in paper and a lot easier to do, as well.

Today I learned that original dub of the first Pokemon movie actually tackled the idea of genetically engineering animals and the consequences behind it. That would've made for a very interesting topic back then but the dub completely got rid of that message.
