    Vote on your Favorite Protagonist!

Hello and welcome to a new multi-platform event, that will last several weeks!

In this event, your objective is to vote for your favorite Pokémon protagonist across a series of polls. To begin, we will start by region*, and see who is the favourite protagonist from each area**. Afterwards, the winner will form a tournament round, where we will do 4 sets of up to 4*** winners, and then take the top two options from there into 2 sets of four, then a final poll.

    Where can I vote?

You can vote for the first set of people in this thread at the top - the Kanto nominees! You can also vote on our social media pages: Twitter (will use its own poll system), Bluesky (a Google poll), Instagram (a Google poll) and Facebook (a Google poll). Yes, it's better to not go around voting multiple times, but we won't be monitoring things that closely. But don't cheat, that's just boring. This means the winner of each poll will be from all polls (here, Twitter, Google poll) added together, not per platform.

Polls will run roughly 4 days, and be posted every week as a new thread (or on social media, as a new post). We may speed things up for the spin-off regions.

Meanwhile, share some propaganda for your pick each week! Take about why you're voting for your character, and make fun of the others (respectfully, of course). We'll also use the results and input for a Daily article summarising the whole event once it ends.

    * Hisui will be treated as separate to Sinnoh.
** Spinoff games will also be considered! Orre will feature, while we will also consider the Ranger games' regions separately, but lump the Snap/New Snap regions (and hence protagonists) together.
*** We may see what the Legends: Z-A protags look like before we hit the tournament phase... pending TPC(i). If so, we'll do a poll on them! Otherwise, one set of 4 polls will have less options... Or we can consider a second chance for the losing protag with the most amount of votes!

    Rules

    1. No Trolling - This includes things like voting on behalf of other users, inputting joke responses in the Google Forms, using bots or creating alt accounts to try and game the voting system, and other dishonest activities. Please don't do that stuff.
    2. Have Fun - We all love Pokémon, and we hope that you derive enjoyment and have a good time with this event!
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding this event, feel free to contact bobandbill.

    Previous Polls

Kanto: Red, in a narrow win over Leaf! Chase and Elaine were well behind.
Johto: Kris, in another narrow win over Gold! In fact, Gold won on the forums, but not in the other two platforms. Lyra was a distant third.
Hoenn: May, in the first clear victory in these series of polls. Brendan and his hat were no match.
Sinnoh: Dawn, who basically murdered poor Lucas in the polls.
Unova: Hilda, in a very narrow victory over Rosa (only 2 votes as the difference). This time third place had a respectable turnout (Hilbert), while Nate did okay but was comfortably fourth.

Thanks to PoryKid575 and Arcaneum for CSS.

I know absolutely nothing about these games. I wouldn't even know which is which without looking it up. The only thing I'm attached to here from them is that Wes's outfit reminds me of the protag from Yume Tsuki's comic, so I went with him lol.

Of these two games that take place in the Orre region, the only one I played was Pokémon Colosseum - where Wes is the protagonist.
I voted for him because of familiarity. But I admit that I thought his personality was pretty cool a while ago.
And honestly, I don't know much about Michael, the protagonist of Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness.
I'm here waiting for the winner of this poll, regardless of who it is.

While Wes undoubtedly has the cooler design, it always felt wrong to me for the protagonist to be a former Team Snagem member. Plus, I played XD before Colosseum, and enjoyed it more, so I have more attachment to Michael. I'm going to have to go against everyone else's choice here and cast Michael's first vote.

Both games are worth playing imo! They were for the GCN, and have similar mechanics to the main series, just with the addition of Shadow Pokemon you 'Snag' from other Trainers (yes, effectively catching a Trainer's Pokemon). It's okay though, you're doing it to help them (the Shadow Pokemon) get better! Also (nigh) every battle is a Double battle, and the games are set up with that in mind. They're not without some flaws, but you have a very different vibe to the main series titles. Also some amazing music.

As for your last comment... well, that's because Yume's comic is based on Colosseum! That protag is not Wes, but it does follow the general story events from what I last read of it.

At least he's fighting Team Snagem/Cipher and helping the Shadow Pokemon recover and all. He may have had a rough backstory, but then give the region he is in, it might not be too surprising. Michael had a much better environment prior to the start of XD's events I suppose.

For me the choice is easy - Wes. I've played both, and Michael imo is fine but not that noteworthy. Wes though is just hella different to every other Pokemon protag, and not just because he's an older character who is established as a competent, not-brand-new Trainer from the start of the game. And he has an amazing introduction in the game's opening cutscene.

The only thing I knew about XD was Shadow Lugia. (I didn't even know it took place in the same region as Colosseum lol) But I did see probably the first... 20 ish minutes of Colosseum from a guy on Youtube, saved the video, then closed it. I knew almost instantly I wanted to see the full game for myself first, so I searched for a copy online and... Wow, people sure think everyone else is rich except them lol. I'd love to get a copy and try it out someday, though. It looked straight up my alley. I suppose I should've said that I know almost nothing about them, but I didn't think the first few minutes was enough to count really 'knowing' more about one than the other. I did not know that most of th gam was based around doubles, though! Considering doubles are my preferred battle style, that makes me even more interested. (I just wish it didn't cost so much just to play it legitimately... >.>)

This I did know, but I wasn't sure how many liberties Yume was taking with the story, and I also didn't start anywhere close to the beginning. So I'm not super worried about lasting spoilers from reading it at least. (plus I love the artstyle)

But yeah, Colosseum at least is near the very top of my 'older games I'd love to play at some point' list. ^^

    LET'S GO WES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's my favorite Pokémon protagonist, so even if he doesn't win this, he's still the best in my mind.

I mean, ex-villain team member, steals abused Pokémon from their trainers and helps them heal, epic outfit, and blows up the enemy hideout? He's the best.

I actually have a fanfic idea taking place 8 years after Colosseum in which Wes (now 25) is dragged into another conflict with Cipher despite trying to live a peaceful life as a dirt bike mechanic. (And yes, XD's story is included. Also, Wes and Michael meet.)

It fills me with such joy to see that bobandbill still enjoys the Orre games, all these years later.

Had to vote for Wes. He's just so different from the other protagonists that we've seen before. Right from the start with the opening cut scene, you can tell that he's only the start of all the exciting changes these games brought.

Might have to watch a playthrough again of Colo. (I don't know if I still have my copy or not.) Or read a particular fanfic.

    Should write it!

Haha, I certainly still enjoy them!

I got Janna to play the Orre titles a while back too. :B
