Let's say GF has given themselves a bad case of art block and decides to let you make one singular decision for the mainline Gen 10 Pokemon games. What would you choose to do and why?
This is a good shout. I'd go further and say just do better attack/receiving damage animations across the board, which is a big ask but it makes the world of difference in making battles look good or not. Besides, battles are the main part of gameplay - this should look like the best part of the game!Specifically about art? In that case: one unique animation for each Pokemon. Becomes a much better or worse game, depending on the Pokemon. Lacks any good ideas for new Pokemon. Why not bolster the new ones and existing ones, then? Could be an attack animation (something for any of Hitmonchan's punching moves), a resting animation (a big flop down for Snorlax), an ability animation (a fancier Hunger Switch for Morpeko), or something else.
I'm kind of surprised I hadn't thought of this. Absolutely +1 - though I kind of wonder whether they'd have the ability to make subquests for all the species/families. I do feel like my team don't have much personality though, so I'd support something to expand on the Pokémon themselves a bit that isn't just some small interaction minigame (like Camp, etc). Give me something to do that isn't just battling in some way or exploring the world! I've always wanted to see my Pokémon's personalities shine a bit more, especially since they've gotten better at showing us all these little TV episodes which really show how different they can be.Alternatively, if I had to offer something of mine, I'd say incorporate Pokémon-specific subquests so your individual Pokémon can have stuff to do and you can imprint them somewhat more of a "personality".
