[PokeCommunity.com] Tug o' War 12 - Where would you live: Cartoon World (+1) vs. Video Game World (-1)!
tug of war game PNG Designed By 588ku from https://pngtree.com

Welcome to the Forum Games Tug o' War thread!

    What is going on here?

Since the Gender Race has been retired to further our goal of inclusion, we would like to present to you our brand new Tug o' War game!

Awesome! But erm... what is it?
It works much the same as before, but rather than having a game involving binary identity where not everyone may be able to participate, we will pick a (friendly!) subject to race / battle and you will post for the side you want to win!

You simply join whichever team you like, and you can even change sides if you find your opinion has swayed during the game, but please try to keep any switching for genuine changes of heart.

The subject for the next game could be decided by YOU!
You are able to suggest new topics to battle over in THIS THREAD, so it's fully interactive!

    Let's play! Gimme the rules!
Both sides of the battle will be assigned a role - up or down. If you want team UP to win, then you will simply ADD one to the number from the post above you. If you want team DOWN to win, then you SUBTRACT one instead!

We will start at 100. If team UP reaches 200, they win! If team DOWN reaches 0, they win! If neither team wins by the end date we change the subject to avoid it becoming stale

    Scheduled End Date: 1st September

Remember to stick to the Forum Rules and try to keep the conversation flowing. You can talk about anything, such as the current battle subject, or even just daily chit-chat!

Round 1 witnessed Cats secure victory over Dogs!
Round 2 see the Anti-Pineapple-ists barely secure the victory!
Round 3 tea definitely didn't crush coffee in this one; nope, definitely not! :P
Round 4 The Legend of Zelda one this one over the Super Mario franchise
Round 5 Cake ended up being more popular than Pie
Round 6 Consoles beat PC's in the gaming debate
Round 7 Books secured a runaway victory over TV!
Round 8 Night narrowly triumphed over Day!
Round 9 Dinner easily became everyone's favorite mealtime
Round 10 People really liked Blue over Red for some reason...
    Round 11
Space was completely swamped by the Ocean

The subject for this round is:

Where would you rather live: Cartoon World (+1) vs. Video Game World (-1)!

    Cartoon World (UP)
    vs.
    Video Game World (DOWN)

    Let's begin!

    100.

You all know that how much knowledge I have for both the cases, so I am indifferent in either. And hence from neutral scenario, both cases could be nice. But will go with Video Game World in this reply because I can assume something in mind. Not actually know what it means to live in cartoon world, therefore need to see some replies here to understand that concept.

And since both these concepts are out of phase for me, so I can treat this thread as some learning opportunity to gain some insight about what these two entities actually are !!

Initially thought Cartoon. How many video game plots have some kind of world-ending disaster, war, and/or some ancient evil sealed underground? Finds plenty of negatives in Cartoon worlds too (Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, Avatar, My Hero Academia). Deals with death far more often in video games. Faces far fewer consequences for it, on the other hand, between multiple lives and revives.

Oh, wait. Thought of one more part of fewer consequences: save points. Exists as part of the game world sometimes. Hm. Can everyone save? Imagine someone saving before talking to you. Only thinks of one game like that. Sounds pretty attractive, at any rate. More or less decided the vote.

Wonders if you can see your own stats and level up too.

I want to know one thing; may I know any video games where we don't need to fight and/or use any sorts of weapons ?

Something very relaxed and calm ?

Animal Crossing. Moves into a small village of a few talking animals (or onto a deserted island in the new one). Sets no real goal, other than maybe pay off your house. Catch bugs/fish, decorate your house, and make your town look pretty.

Harvest Moon games. Takes over a farm. Get to know villagers and their stories.

A Short Hike. Meet some animals and head to the top of a mountain.

The Sims games. Simulates a human's life (or a household). Gets a little wacky with some downloadable content (see: vampires and other mythological creatures). Could technically get into a fight with someone. Benefits you as much as in real life, though.

Untitled Goose Game. May or may not get to be a goose, depending on how it would work out. Potentially gets bothered by a goose, if not.

Also says to "live in the world", not be the main character. Leaves most/all of the fighting to the protagonist, ideally.

I was going to say a cartoon just to stop it being one sided - I will probably flipflop on this a lot for conversation - but right now I'm going to add myself to the Animal Crossing train!

Such a beautiful relaxing game where everyone just lives their best life with friends. I wish I lived in that world.

Depends on what you consider "fighting". If there's a winner and a loser then sports games, racing games and even puzzle games with a versus mode could fall under that category.

There are some fun puzzle games, though: Tetris, Puyo Puyo, Panel de Pon, all the Picross games. There's also a bunch of interesting Point and Click adventures like the Deponia games that have you wander around, collect items and combine them and use them in the right place to make the story progress.

I liked playing the Deponia games, despite them having such an idiot of a protagonist. xD

I meant weapon based games which are known for fighting only.

    And to narrow down the choices, I want to add a follow-up question;

Are there any games available for DS in the same category ?

    For the normal DS:
    • Animal Crossing: Wild World. One of the earlier titles in the series.
    • Professor Layton and the Curious Village, Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, Professor Layton and the Unwound Future (Lost Future in some regions), and Professor Layton and the Lost Specter. Listed them in order of release. (Considers the first three a trilogy, apparently.) Revolves entirely around solving puzzles.
    • Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (original), Justice For All, and Trials and Tribulations. (Also available on Steam and Switch.) A visual novel (think of it like an interactive book with music and puzzles). Controls a lawyer. Searches for contradictions and flaws in testimony in order to find your client innocent. Mentions a sequel to that trilogy too: Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. (Listed them in order of release.)
    • 999: Nine Persons, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. A visual novel with escape rooms in the horror genre. Solve the puzzles to escape a room. Seek a door that bears a '9'. Released a sequel on the 3DS. (Finds both on Steam.) Definitely do not live in this world. May be a little too scary to be calm or relaxing.
    • Nintendogs. Raise a small dog. Listens to commands (via the microphone in the DS). Take it on walks, play fetch, and teach it tricks. Considers this pretty limited, personally. Cannot do much beyond that.
    • Picross 3D and Picross DS. Kind of a logic puzzle. Tells you how many filled-in squares are in a line. Creates an image by the end. (May be a little different for Picross 3D, but probably similar.)

Probably more too. Suggests looking up a Youtube video, if you want a better idea of gameplay.

Thanks @Devalue for giving me the list of games playable on NDS. There are so much options that I might finish all of them by 2025, considering the pace at which I can play !! But at least there are some games in existence which can be played by odd-kid like me !!
