What do you want out of the bad guys in the game?

For them to be well-written and their involvement in the plot to be executed well. Not much point in having them otherwise if they're just gonna be the next Lysandre or Rose.

Yes, true. I am fine with the villain or team going back to basics. U am not like expecting it to be super dark or spooky because kids do play the games. Maybe can have a half serious half silly team, but I dunno. Just I too want a well-written and their involvement to be done well.

Villains that are actually... plot relevant? Also, I'd appreciate a "villainous group" that isn't outright evil. Doesn't want to steal Pokémon, isn't an eco-terrorist organization, doesn't want world domination, isn't a crime syndicate, universal omnipotence.... and isn't just there for comedic relief that has zero consequences on the story's events.

Just an organized group whose actions or intentions could honestly be perceived as "good"; and bring up interesting moral/ethical dilemmas in the Pokémon world. More "Team Plasma", less "Team Skull", ya know?

Given how young the protagonists are I'm not expecting much from an 'evil' team, if there even is going to be one.

That said, just a team with an actual ideal they are striving for and will do anything necessary to achieve it would be nice. Which has been done already, but it's still better than what we've had recently.
Team Skull was still tolerable, but Team Yell was just a joke imo

for a long time, i've kinda wanted another villainous team that's sort-of succeeded in their plans, and have the player be responsible for fixing their shit because imo that's more interesting from a storytelling standpoint. aqua/magma were the closest to this, but there were also cipher from pokemon colosseum/XD

I think it would be neat having another evil leader as the final boss, akin to gen 5.

Instead of traditionally fighting the evil leader after getting 7 badges and having them wiped from the plot.

I want the bad guys to actually be bad guys this time that should be taken seriously. The Pokémon Black and White games had the best main villain and villain team in Team Plasma in my opinion, mainly because they had a good mission statement, Ghetsis was extremely evil, the team was mostly competent, they were taken seriously, were actually a threat to Unova, and it all told a great story. Team Galactic in the fourth generation Pokémon games were not that far off. I want a team that is more competent than Team Rocket, not as misguided as Team Aqua or Team Magma, not as ridiculous and silly as Team Flare, or as anti-heroish as Team Skull and Team Yell. I want real villains this time around that threaten your very existence if you don't do something about it.

Never going to happen, but I'd like another Team Rocket (Kanto, not the Johto "daddy come back I can't do crime good without you!" plot - no disrespect meant to those games though) - organised crime as the enemy. Perhaps with the leader initially presented as a positive establishment figure like Rose in SwSh. The legendaries for the region not being integral to the plot, too. Maybe the professor sends you to hunt them down to...y'know, research them instead?

As long as there isn't another one like Team Flare, I'll take anything. I was completely fine with Team Skull just being a bunch of hoodlums causing trouble and Team Yell being the concept of "football hooligans", But, anything that isn't team flare is fine and I'll take that.

I like the direction bad guy teams have taken Gen 7 onwards. I don't like those explicitly evil bad guys, who just want to take over the world with a legendary or whatever. And I *definitely* don't just want to be tasked with saving the world. I just want to be a kid on an adventure, collecting badges with my pokemon friends.

I liked Gen 8's Team Yell, because it was kinda like Gen 1's random hoodlums that you take down, but themed around the sports league you're in. With the upcoming games seeming to have a school theme, I'd like it if the "bad guy team" was just a rival school with a few snobs. Consider Draco Malfoy and his posse early on in Harry Potter, how they'd compete in Quidditch, and the rivalry between Gryffindor and Slytherin having points declared at the very end. Something like that would be my ideal.

Personally I wish they'd go back to the explicitly evil team. However, as a fully grown adult, I ask myself all the time why I have to be a 10-14 year old saving the world. So I wish your characters could be a bit older, and thus, it would be more reasonable for a young adult on a Pokémon journey to go up against an evil organization.

Obviously we are talking fantasy, but as a kid, knowing that team rocket were literally mutilating pokemon made me see red 😆 🤣 I hunted for Heracross and handled business with the quickness in Slowpoke Well.

With that being said, it's understandable why a super evil villain or group with evil intents wouldn't exactly work in a game aiming to appeal to newer generations as well.

To either have a decent story and purpose, or to otherwise simply not exist.

"Villain team that wants to steal the power of X legendary Pokémon to change/destroy the region, and you, the kid who barely started training Pokémon are the only one who can stop them" has become so old, and allways so cheaply done and predictable that it almost killed all my interest in these games's story.

And just having a villain team with no actual reason other than Pokémon game needs a villain team isn't great either.

I mostly agree with Corveone here, though I'm not particularly bothered with whatever route they take in the end since it's still Pokémon and I'll still love it haha. I think my favorite usage of the villainous team was in Ruby and Sapphire/Omega Ruby and Sapphire - they had the cliche story of taking advantage of a legendary for their own goals, but it was done really well by the end with them realizing their mistakes and the legendaries showing just how dangerous they are to get involved with (via drought or heavy rain). So if it could be done in a way that really makes me click with it like that and with good buildup, I'm all for it.

I wouldn't mind seeing an evil team that wants information from us, like about the studies the Professor is making and about the new mechanic. Kinda like the Ultra Squad from USUM. Or maybe, an evil team that is from a different school of thought. It would be cool if the Professor was also the evil boss lol. That's purely dreaming, but it would be cool if he/she was using us to test his new experiments just to then use the knowledge he gets from our adventure against us. Legendary Pokemon must be in the process somehow, but I kinda liked how in the last generations the evil teams didn't have much to do with the legendary pokemon, because it kinda changed the formula.
