★☆ The Incredibly Wandering Thread ☆★ [v5.0]

I enjoy checking out the various characters in the ooc even if I don't really intend to join since its a quick and easy way to see what type of characters people are going for and gives me a reference for any css i might want to steal later hehe. For most RPs the majority just use art that they've found online somewhere as references, but there are some really neat artists around these parts that put in a lot of effort making their OCs which always ends up grabbing my attention haha. Even if I did have the skills I don't know that I'd have the courage to pony up the time and energy needed to fall in love with a character design that way without knowing we got some real traction beneath us.

I also have a massive folder of character art already that I doubt I'll ever be able to use lmao
 
I usually sketch my characters for their SUs but also- I don't mind putting in the art effort because 1) I just like to design characters lmao but 2) all of my characters have full potential to come back and be re-used, especially if the RP doesn't really get going. If I feel like I haven't explored a character enough and then join an RP where they would fit- they're comin' back baybee I don't give a heck!!

I don't trust my artistic abilities to draw a face enough to sketch a character I guess lol.

But then again, I'm just kinda terrible with descriptions in general, and character design doesn't really mesh that well with me. Coming up with names and design is a bit of a pain.

Some of them felt a bit intimidating because they were CSS'd up to the wazoo and had quality drawings to work as a reference but I think it's fun to see what other people are doing.

Yea coming up with basic design and name for chars that i'll want to stick with for a long time is really hard :why: But in the end I don't think I've grown bored of any of my chars in recent years.

Not like a decade ago when I think I've in several of my own RPs just decided to start over / jump in with a new char lol. If my players really want to do that though, I usually allow them :) The main thing is to have fun! Not have a dreary obligation to post about someone you've lost your passion for.
 
Designing characters uh? Honestly, not sure how it works for me. I used to just look at faceclaims that could work well, then I just tried going for features and outfits that just made sense in my head and matched the personality I wanted, and then... picrew I guess. I usually end up drawing my characters only after I create them and play with them a bit, because that's when you start getting attached... :senpai:

or you can always ask anna politely for drawings...

i used to spend so much time on picrew tho?? when a character comes together in personality for me their appearance tends to follow and i end up with a very Specific visual for them. and then i make like 8 picrews and if you put all of them together you might get close to what i imagine them being....

so i just give up and draw em instead of go thru all that lmaooo
 
For chars design I normally do
a picrew, but at times it's hard to find one that actually suits the character. So at that point I end up drawing them instead. I really should get back to drawing my characters tbh

i made all my ocs on picrew because I refuse to use face claims and i'm going to be drawing my main oc later today if I get unlazy

Gosh I've been writing fanfiction with canon characters so much I kinda forgot how to do OCs lol. I mean I do have some here and there if needed but I don't develop them too much, and half the time I have the OCs look similar and same ethnic background. I gotta do it if mainstream media likes to pretend I don't exist lmao.

As for me, have been working on my current project but have to keep it hush for at least another month or so due to it being for an event. At first I'm able to write it at a stable pace and even got done several chapters within two + months in addition to working on a couple fic exchanges. Then last week I was only able to do maybe 100-400 words a day couple to the several hundred pace I've been going and it's frustrating me lol. The story is a bit on the long side and I kinda want to finish it as soon as possible so I can get back to Foul Play. (I know I can work on more than one WIP, but the current project has a deadline in June and don't know if I can afford to juggle two long works atm)

That's the Genshin Impact poem you wanted to ask an opinion on something, right? I don't know too much of that game nor narrative poetry but maybe I'll still try to check it out soon!

Yeah, that one. I'm an acrostic poet, but I suppose this one is telling a story (which I guess what narrative poetry is).
 
My legends playthrough is on pause and I've been collecting HA Pokemon from 3DS games. Also working on catching the gen 5 and 6 starters in apriballs in UM and Sun.
With Nintendo pulling the plug on the 3DS, I'm pretty much just grabbing some things I still want before my Bank expires later this year =p

In legends I still need to go fight the first warden and I'm like 60 hours or something in =p
 
I am in the second area but currently putting Legends and pretty much anything pokemon related on hold sadly :(
