Soooo immensely frustrated.

A business I ordered from a week ago has not sent any dispatch email / shipping updates and they do not respond when I try to contact them. I need these items within 2 weeks max before I leave the country. For a shipping price of $22, I expect immediate dispatch. 😠 And this isn't the first business to ignore my customer emails either -- it seems to be growing theme!! Really mad at myself for wasting time and money on a rotten business.

Yesterday I had a very important medical appointment. I'd had no sleep the night before due to pain and no food in nearly 24 hours.

My car decided to break down about a mile away from my appointment with only a few minutes to go, and it started flashing all kinds of warnings on the dash. It was completely dead and stranded in the middle of the road, so I couldn't leave the car where it was but missing this particular appointment was absolutely unthinkable.

We asked a (really lovely as it turned out!) guy sitting in his van nearby if he could help push it off the road so I could leave it. The big problem was that he couldn't push it up the slope alone, so I had to help. I am recovering from surgery, and I'm not even supposed to lift bags right now. I think I've ripped something internally, and I'm in agony.

After we (just) got it off the road, I walked to my appointment - planning to call breakdown once I got back - and was obviously very late, but thankfully I still got my treatment! I cannot thank them enough!

After stopping off at a shop to buy food to take back to the car because I needed to take meds and still hadn't eaten anything, I now had to walk back to my car in the dwindling light through an area I'd suffered some very traumatic experiences in the past, so I was terrified and teary by the time I got back to the car. I decided to try to start it before I called the breakdown service and... it worked! After checking as much as I could, I figured it had been a glitch and decided to drive to my regular garage a couple of miles away. I planned to eat my food there instead...

Literally about a mile from the garage it cut out again, this time on a full speed highway in rush hour with nowhere to stop. I coasted as far as I could and very violently ditched the car, somehow managing to avoid all the traffic, the fence and signs.

Our breakdown service (AA for our UK peeps) told me they would be over 4 hours even though I was stood beside an incredibly dangerous road with nowhere to go!!! My partner told them about my serious illnesses and suddenly a patrol was there within about 15 minutes...

The (again incredibly lovely!) patrol guy fixed the car and then said he would follow us all the way home to make sure we got there. I went to pull away and... well turns out he hadn't fixed it after all! ;)

Eventually he found the real fault and decided the car would need to be recovered to the garage I'd tried to make it to. Our timing wasn't spectacular - as we pulled in, my mechanic was pulling out to go home for the day!

We left the keys with the petrol attendant and said to call us. The AA guy took us home after I spent about 15 minutes trying to get into the huge cab, breaking my nice new cane I've been using during recovery in the process ;(((

I think I threw the first food I could find down my neck when I got in (many, many hours after the initial breakdown) and then literally passed out. I woke up only a handful of hours later in pain and I'm still up from that. I spend a lot of my time tired atm, but this is extreme exhaustion even for me. I'm broken.

I've been reading up on where self-inserts can go wrong, and now I'm currently evaluating the extent to which mine will be involved in my Pokémon Xenoverse AU fic.

On one hand, I haven't been shy about how self-indulgent this fic is - just like the game itself, in a way. I'm currently balancing two options; adapt the premise of my first two playthroughs in which I am a chaperone to the protagonist, or be the protagonist myself. On the other hand, I've also been secretly exploring another path in which I am more of a background character (more like in real life); I admit it takes a lot of stress off my shoulders and it is far more enjoyable than going through all the not-so-pleasant stuff the main character(s) of this game go through. Maybe even the dark comedy aspect could benefit from me being in the backdrop due to my quirks and history, in a way.

Then again, I could just... not write myself into the fic at all, but where's the fun in that? Only concern I have is that I'd be inserting myself into someone else's work within closer distance than the Pokémon franchise itself given that Xenoverse is a fan game, but eh, what can I do about it? Try to stop thinking about it to no avail?

I can relate... I had to spend several days off (which I would have wanted to spend well), and the full Christmas holidays with a migraine...

...I don't even have a word to describe the level of dismay I'm experiencing right now.

Well, I watched the LumenTale trailer earlier this afternoon and accessed the Kickstarter page. I decided I wasn't gonna support the game because the concept seems a bit generic, and WeedleTeam and Beehive Studios have a spotty track record after that DonaRush debacle (not to mention Starkey doesn't have a good rep among even Xenoverse players). I did wholeheartedly wish for the game to make its goal to see it in action and be proven wrong, though.

Then I made the mistake of going to Twitter to see if there were any callout threads for the team, like there were when Élite4 quit the Xenoverse dev team. What do I find out?

Someone I used to know who didn't treat me very nicely, to say the least, is on the Mon design team for LumenTale.

One is known by the company they keep, birds of a feather flock together, etc. I felt so sick from anxiety that I went back to sleep immediately afterwards. I'm feeling better now, but it was a nasty surprise. Now, I still wish for LumenTale to make its goal... but I won't be too bothered if it fails to take off.

My mom threw the medicine that my dog needs in the garbage. Her vision is bad and she is pretty absent-minded, so she thought she was tossing out an empty bag. Now I am trying to call for a refill, and can't get staff on the phone, clinic not open yet, and I'm worried about how my pup will fare without the medicine she was prescribed for much longer. I also am scared that they might not prescribe me any more meloxican today because it's strong stuff, and was supposed to last for the rest of the week. Even if they do, I am not made of money, and am not happy about having to buy another.

It took a number of phone calls and some driving around, but I did get her meds yesterday afternoon, and she is doing well, seems rested and cozy.
