March Archipelago 2025 (Complete)

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
Update #1 (Hideout)

Journal of Dr. Eggman

It is an uncomfortable truth that, to conquer the world, you have to make your subjects like you. Unfortunately, given the fact that I've shattered the Earth into seven pieces, twice, nearly blew up the Earth with the Space Colony ARK, accidentally flooded Station Square after losing control of Chaos, shattered time itself with the Time Eater, enslaved the Wisps of Planet Wisp and tried to build a mind-control laser, treated everyone badly the last time I took over the world, and lost control of the deadly Final Egg Blaster to a robot that tried to destroy the Earth, to say nothing of the fact that my environmental policy is so bad that I'm responsible for the creation of the aptly-named Oil Ocean Zone, my approval rating when I set out to take over the world this time was a mere 1.6%.

Even most of the people who write joke answers in surveys such as "I could fight a grizzly bear with my bare hands and win" balk at saying "I support the Eggman Empire". Overcoming such a deficit would be impossible, were I not the world's greatest mad scientist! I have taken notice that many of the youth support something called "Fully-Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism". Now, "Fully-Automated" is what the Eggman Empire does best, and those few who support me do indeed live in luxury. We have a space program of our own, with great plans to expand throughout the galaxy. I don't recall having much in the way of a free market in my empire, either. And I did date Dr. Wily in college that one time.

In short, the Eggman Empire is already what these people are asking for, and I fully intend to give it to them! I'll have the Eggman Empire propaganda machine fully retool our image to fit this new ideology, and have our supporters in New Amsterdam set up a hideout to conduct operations throughout the city! Since they can't beat the United Earth Directorate in a violent revolution, I plan to have them lead an unarmed protest movement to paint pro-Eggman graffiti across the city, and win hearts and minds. The UED will overreact and crack down hard, and that overreaction to a mostly-pacifict movement will turn the people against the UED.

While setting up the Hideout, we found a Teleporter Fragment for the Risk of Rain crew. During our downtime, we developed Internal Tech Modules to build Battlecruisers without Tech Labs, once we finally have the ability to manufacture Battlecruisers. We then researched foraging techniques to improve Devalue's Foraging Level, and Analyze Ability for Bartz's party. We even found the Final Zone Key, only to have it stolen by Sonic the Hedgehog! By the time our Hideout was set up, the Eggman Empire's approval rating had risen to 12.8%. Which still isn't great, but we have a sizable base of supporters now.

A Hat in Time
Update #1 (Contractual Obligations)

Hat Kid's Diary

Surprisingly enough, Dr. Eggman agreed to help get my Time Pieces back. Working for a world-conquering villain isn't my first choice, but I've worked for plenty of bad guys before and it's always worked out well in the end. Plus, we have lots of good guys to give stuff to if I find anything that's not useful for an army of robots. My ship only has enough power to land in the Subcon Forest, where I landed. Before beaming down, my Rumbi accidentally vacuumed up the Lost Underworld Teleport co-ordinates, so unfortunately I had to give her a whack with my baseball bat to send them to Ness.

I beamed down, and entered this really creepy forest. When I got there, one of Professor Oak's Aides showed up and gave me a Brewing Hat, then ran away. There was a monster here named the Snatcher, who made me sign a contract in a language I couldn't read and then burn some paintings. Snatcher gave a recipe to make Zerg Scourges for cheaper, something I don't know how to build and don't think Dr. Eggman does either. I climbed up a giant tree and found a Small Key for Ice Palace, and a Lucky Emblem for KH2.

Along the way I encountered a glitchy being called the Badge Seller, who had a Shiny Ring for Sonic, some Rapid Recharging tech to quickly recharge the energy of Eggman's Egg Sentries and Egg Havocs, an HM02 Fly for Arcaneum, a Hopper Recipe for the Stardew Valley farmer, a Radio Card for a lucky trainer from Johto, a Shovel for Link to the Past, and finally some Royal Iced Tea for Ness. But no actual Badges. This Badge Seller is a fraud. In the same village, I found a Teleporter Fragment for RoR2, and what looked like a Time Piece but turned out to be a Small Key for Ganon's Castle.

I then went to the swamp in this forest, and found a keycard to a "Containment Area" somewhere, with the Snatcher's ID on it, and I also found a Blue Card for the Johto Trainer. A Swamp Tree had parts to make a Mine Elevator for Stardew Valley, and I also dug up a grave to find a Weird Egg for the Hero of Time. I am completely stuck here, for now, so I'm going to wait until I get more Hats, Time Pieces, Contracts, Paintings, or Relics from my friends.

One day in, and I realize that I do not have the energy to write story journal entries while playing this many games. Better to cancel now rather get invested in writing a story arc and inevitably get burnt out on it. (Future plans were Snatcher being responsible for the demon invasions from Doom, with Hat Kid and some Starcraft Marines trying to fight him, Dr. Eggman gradually taking over the Koprulu Sector, then the Bomb Rush Crew probably overthrowing Eggman once they realized he didn't have their best interests in mind, assuming BRC took longer to beat than SC2 which is reasonably likely.)

Cleared out all my accessible Doom checks, got Spring, Beet Seeds, Progressive Barn, Progressive Mine Elevator, and Progressive Coop for Devalue's Stardew Valley, Magical Sword for Zelda 1 from the outdoor pool in E1M1, Energy Tank for Super Metroid, Small Key (Swamp Palace) for Zelda 1, two Teleporter Fragments for Risk of Rain, and a Gold Skultulla Token and Hover Boots for Ocarina of Time.

First thing for Alex_Among_Foxes : Spotted some Mario & Luigi Hammers as a reward for finishing off a group of bundles in Stardew Valley. Do not expect that soon. Figured you might appreciate knowing where one of those is, though.

Edit: Removed the ping, just in case.

Update 1

Pokemon Crystal
Spoiler: Rundown of Crystal settings

  • Goal: Defeat Red
  • 14-16 badges for Red
  • 8 badges for the Elite Four
  • Shuffled badges, Pokegear, and berry trees
  • Randomized basically all Pokemon to anything. 50/50 on matching types or completely random for trainers.
  • Start with four moves.
  • 65-80% TM compatability and 75-85% HM compatability. Stops Surf from being a guaranteed good Special move while not having to have oodles of Pokemon for HMs.
  • Random stats, but same base stat total.
  • Free Fly location + another from the Pokegear and map card. No on early Fly.
  • Minimum catch rate of 135-200.
  • Blind trainers.
  • x2 experience.

Started with a choice between Wobbuffet, Bayleef, and Hitmonlee. Chose Hitmonlee for more immediately imapct. (Note: Randomized stat spread, so no telling how good it will be.) Looked...kind of similar to normal Hitmonlee. Had good Attack, Speed, and Defense. Knew Jump Kick too.

Kept an eye out for something stronger. Was not impressed by even stat spread Machamp. Found something nicer below Violet City: Tyranitar and Mew. Caught the Tyranitar. Headed to the Pokemon Center to pick it up and inspect it. Talked to Freida for the Pass to Kanto. No point in wasting time on a level 5 or 7 now. (Does not have level scaling like in the other Pokemon games.)

Sped on towards Goldenrod City. Performed the due diligence of grabbing every check on the way. Values Sphere 1 checks pretty highly, after all. Rode over to Kanto. Dove into the grass for...level 14s? Remembers the wild Pokemon being way lower than the trainers, but not that low.

Circled around to Fuchsia City. Knew of some high levels there. Delivered with a level 29 Entei (higher level than Hitmonlee) with a fine Special Attack and Speed stat. (Hates really slow Pokemon for this. Suffered too many one-hit knockout moves in Red.) One problem: no Special moves at all. Knows Bonemerang and maybe Razor Wind. Added Rock Slide via TM. Hopes to get better TMs soon.

Cleaned out all of Johto. Was not keen on taking on Kanto gym leaders an hour into the seed. (Tried Janine and get wrecked by a level 36 Celebi.) Returns to that later. Calls that "soft BK".

Earthbound

Spoiler: Rundown of Earthbound settings

  • Goal: Defeat Giygas. No alternate goals.
  • 5-8 Sanctuaries for Giygas.
  • Shuffle teleports and characters to anywhere.
  • Prefix broken items.
  • Random Franklin Badge element type
  • Filler item weights: 80 common, 30 uncommon, 10 rare (slightly better than default).
  • Armorizer and Weaponizer: On with Keep Type. (May have random resistances and/or stats at a 15% chance.) Capped stats at 80 for armor and 125 for weapons.
  • Random start location.
  • Will find a non-required Magicant teleport. No boost for completion.
  • Monkey Caves: Hunt (Finds the items in nearby shops)
  • Start with Ness.
  • Extra items for the 2nd and 8th Sanctuaries (Tiny Key and Tenda Hotpants)
  • x1.5 - x2 experience
  • x2 money drop
  • Shuffled enemy drops
  • Shopsanity on. Generates a hint for any progression items seen in a shop.
  • Energy Link: On.

Mentions one of the settings by itself, for those uninterested in looking through. Generates a fake "hint" upon seeing a progression item in a shop. Knows what is important to buy that way. Serves as a good reminder if something is too expensive too.

Started in Fourside, as seems to be common. Plays into Shopsanity well. Sold a few trash items. Bought up most of the progression marked stuff. Was relieved to see a Progressive Backpack for Stardew Valley. Makes everything so much nicer.

Received some stuff that rarely pops up this early, on the flip side: a party member (Poo, the worst one) and the Meteorite Piece to reach the final boss.

Had very lopsided combat stats for a while, along the lines of 16 offense and 115 defense. Evened out once a yo-yo (a filler item) came in. Catapulted Ness to something like 120 offense. Accepts the worse hit chance for that kind of power. Blazed through the Sphere 1 stuff.

Took stock of the key items that came in:
1. Letter to Tony and Key to the Locker. Lacked the Teleport to Winters. Bets on that being very early.
2. Signed Banana and Mining Permit. Leads to two nearby dungeons with plenty of things. Definitely felt important.
3. Key to the Tower. Nice, but useless for a while. Was the only other key item at the time. Felt out of place.

Cleared the available dungeons without breaking a sweat. Earned a lot of money. Funneled that into all the progression items so far, including some very expensive items in Deep Darkness. (Might scale the prices based on sphere or something. Really ramped up, if so.)

Cannot do anything more in Earthbound, other than buy pointless items. Switching time.

Oh, and one more thing:
[PokeCommunity.com] March Archipelago 2025 (Complete)
Absolutely bought it. (Made all traps free.) Speaking of which, how many Ice Traps has Alex_Among_Foxes gotten? ...79! Wow.

Stardew Valley

Spoiler: Rundown of Stardew Valley settings

  • Goal: Complete Community Center
  • Farm: Random
  • Remixed bundles. Pulls from thematic, vanilla remixed, and custom bundle possibilities.
  • Standard number of required items per bundle. (Initially set it to 1 less. Looked at one game's bundles. Seemed too quick on most.)
  • Ginger Island: On
  • Season: Random
  • Cropsanity: On
  • Backpack: Early progressive
  • 40% cost for tools and buildings
  • Skill progression: On with masteries.
  • Elevators: Progressive from previous floor. (Means you must go through the caves to get checks, not just pop in on each floor.)
  • Festivals: Easy
  • Arcade machines: Off
  • Special Orders: Short Town Board (no Qi)
  • Quests: Story + 7 Help Wanted
  • One of Fishsanity (exclude 80+ difficulty fish), Museumsanity (milestones), or Friendsanity (every 4 hearts). (Learned how to do triggers.)
  • One check per category
  • Booksanity: Power and Skill books
  • Quick start: On (5 chests, 4 quality sprinklers, 1 iridium band, and some auto farm animal stuff)
  • Starting money: 5000
  • Skill experience: x3 (Takes forever to do Foraging and Combat otherwise.)
  • Friendship points: x3
  • Movement buffs: 4
  • Filler buffs: Luck, Bite Rate, and Defense
  • No traps
  • Allows multi-day sleep.
  • Gifting: On

Kicks off in Fall on the standard farm. Well...sure. Only had three seeds to choose from, two of which could be planted. Included Corn, thankfully, which is pretty solid when you can keep repeating Fall and not replant.

Noticed the Greenhouse up and running a little late. Already invested heavily into seeds and planted the seeds and fertilizer. Oh well. Really appreciates the Greenhouse this early.

Randomized the game to activate one of Museumsanity (milestones), Friendsanity (4 hearts), and Fishsanity (exclude 80+ fish). Received no friendship hearts, so probably not Friendsanity. Bought a Fishing Rod in Earthbound for Stardew Valley to test that. Happened to pick Fishsanity, which is probably the kindest of the three. Nice.

Turned on one other setting new to 1.6 Stardew Valley: skillsanity with masteries. Got the Fishing Mastery, which is perfect...kinda. Will not give you the special amazing fishing rod with shuffled tools on. Still gets the benefit of golden treasure chests. Contains some books, which are very expensive checks. Saved so much cash already. Could also trade them in at the bookseller for meh stuff.

Received some fairly strong weapons from the outset. Got enough Progressive Daggers of Abby's Planchette, a level 8 dagger. Not bad. Prefers a sword, though. Might go with the level 5 Bone Sword, honestly.

Was sad to not have the Shipping Bin yet. Is not necessary, just convenient. (Means selling your stuff at shops.) Held the Key to the City as well, allowing access into buildings easier. Fortunately escaped a slow fate by doing the Introductions quest for the Shipping Bin.

Played pretty slow, perhaps too slow. Only got far enough in to see the bundles. Made a mistake of choosing normal bundle prices. Copy/pasted the full list of bundles from the spoiler log, for anyone interested. (Contains no spoiler information, for the record.)

Argues most to not be too bad. Identifies a couple annoying ones:
  • Wines: Either needs a Keg or 8 of 10 Farming Levels. (Hopefully the latter for money generation.)
  • Fish gunk: Hates messing with the pond. Needs a Preserve Jar as well.
  • High difficulty fish: Excluded hard fish from Fishsanity. Practially needs them all anyways. Is not super opposed to fishing, to be clear. Finds it really hard to catch tough fish with Skillsanity on, however, due to lower levels.
  • High quality fish: Basically requires a lot of fishing levels. More annoying than difficult.
  • Qi Gems: Why? Wanted nothing to do with Qi quests. Turned on short town board quests. Ended up with some dumb stuff anyways.

Fortunately placed the Mario & Luigi Hammers in the Boiler Room, which is the easiest set to finish. Needs Ginger Island access for that. (Ended up with a touch of museumsanity too. Considers only needing 3 of 6 to be perfectly fine, though.)

Oh, right. Reports one bit of excellent news. Learned the Ancient Seed recipe. Picked up an Ancient Seed on, like, level 18 of the Mines. Shoved that into the Greenhouse already. Needs a Seed Maker to really shine, but a good start, nevertheless.

Did not have any buildings at the time. Received a Progressive Barn and Coop since then. Really wants one more coop. Got a Golden Egg from someone early. Turns that into money very easily. (Sidenote: Note the complete lack of barn and coop stuff in bundles.)

Barely scratched the surface on this game. Prioritizes this tomorrow, barring some quick shop checks in Earthbound. Counts all the seasonal events as Sphere 1. Made it to...Day 9? Not far. Technically ought to sleep a bunch and get those and quick Corn. Hates being day-inefficient.

Hopes to get some better movement before playing again. Feels so slow. Has no speed buffs, obelisks, minecarts, horse, or Return Scepter yet.

Got a pretty slow start today as I had a lot of things I had to do in the afternoon/evening but I did manage to get my games set up and make sure they work. I've done all but one check in KH2. I can technically do the last one but it is a boss fight that I am hoping will be easier by the time I get back to it tomorrow. :) Depending on unlocks between now and when I next play, I'll probably prioritize my other two games by then.

I was so frantic trying to catch up that I wasn't really watching my unlocks so I don't have anything in particular to report, but hopefully my efforts have unlocked... something for someone, haha.

Also I know we're all very disappointed that "Cherrim" doesn't seem to be the correct answer for any of the words but I think we should all persevere and finish this archipelago run anyway. We can do it...!

Status updates:

Doom 1: Hard-BKed, but also the fastest game to clear checks in once I have them. This requires a lot of Progression items, these being levels and their associated keycards. I've found 74 checks and have exactly 400 remaining.

Sonic Adventure 2 Battle: What I put most of my time in today. I have fifteen of my thirty-one levels accessible and cleared all 152 logically-accessible checks in them. There are 22 out of logic checks I can theoretically get, but I likely won't bother unless something is hinted there because I have two games with available checks to play, one of these being Starcraft 2 which entered Go Mode basically immediately.

A Hat in Time: I set up my YAML for this game to open up very slowly, so that it doesn't take up too much time during the initial rush and gets much more important later in the Archipelago. Only 33 of my 405 checks were accessible, all but one in Subcon Forest, most of which is locked-down by paintings and contracts. I do have the Brewing Hat already which is very nice.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk: I didn't have the time to do more than clear out the Hideout since I'm busy with the first three games on the list, but I do have one of every Movestyle, one of every Graffiti, and a female character. have 200 of the available 1000 REP, so I should have most of Versum Hill available and possibly some of Millennium Square and Brink Terminal. This game is very simple, get REP, unlock areas. There's only one non-REP item left I need, that being the Camera App which will be my first hint as soon as I can make one.

Starcraft 2: If you've played Archipelago with me before, you know that this game enters Go Mode extremely easily, but is time-consuming to get checks in. This Archipelago is no exception; I am already in Go Mode, all but two of my 83 missions can be 100%ed without releasing, and neither of those two is in the way of my Goal. It is, however, the only game of my five I have not started yet as I'm prioritizing my games with higher check densities.

Wild guess for Puzzle 3 since I know someone else has better answers than I do for Puzzle 1 and 2.

"Pokemon Ranger"

Wild guess for Puzzle 3 since I know someone else has better answers than I do for Puzzle 1 and 2.

"Pokemon Ranger"
Incorrect. Allows you to submit another guess for Puzzle 3 at . May still guess the other two puzzles.

(Permits anyone else to take a shot at Puzzle 3 whenever, to be clear.)

Guess for Puzzle 1: Photon Geyser

Guess for Puzzle 2: Big Smoke Trap
Correct on both. Impressive, especially on the first one. Released the items for both of them.

Puzzle 1 Progression Items
  • Progressive Orbital Command (ExplorerOfSpace)
  • Progressive Pan (Devalue Stardew)
  • Chao Coin (ArcSA2B)
  • Shadow - Air Shoes (ExplorerOfSpeed)
  • And Hell Followed (E4M7) - Yellow Skull Key
  • Teleporter Fragment (ArcRoR)
  • Bone Mill Recipe (DevalueStardew)
  • Time Piece (ExplorerOfTime)
  • Emblem (ArcSA2B)
  • Tomato Seeds (Devalue Stardew)

Puzzle 2 Progression Items
  • Teleporter Fragment (x3) (ArcRoR)
  • Compact Inverted Coaster (ArcRCT2)
  • Shiny Ring (ArcSonic)
  • Itemfinder (DevalueCrystal)
  • BMX (Ceremony) (ExplorerOfCrime)
  • Island Trader (DevalueStardew)
  • Hive Mind Emulator (ExplorerOfSpace)
  • Pegasus Boots (Alex LtP)

Sphere 29 for Puzzle 2 and Sphere 43 for Puzzle 1. Expected those to be pretty late, logically speaking.

  • Progressive Orbital Command (ExplorerOfSpace)
  • Shadow - Air Shoes (ExplorerOfSpeed)
  • And Hell Followed (E4M7) - Yellow Skull Key
  • Time Piece (ExplorerOfTime)
  • BMX (Ceremony) (ExplorerOfCrime)
  • Hive Mind Emulator (ExplorerOfSpace)
The extra BMX, Hive Mind Emulator, and Progressive Orbital Command don't unlock new checks anymore, the Time Piece is useful for later but not now, the Air Shoes will let me get two checks now* and more later once I unlock White Jungle and Sky Rail, and the Yellow Skull Key had a bunch of new checks including a Letter** for Arcaneum's LeafGreen as the only Progression item.

*Another Teleporter Fragment and a TM.

**I'm not sure what that does in FRLG AP; it's normally only a Hoenn key item.

Okay, finally done for the night. I'm not really locked out of anything totally yet, but M&L is struggling the most, mainly due to not the ability to tunnel with Luigi. If I can get that, the only things really slowing me down in the early game are just the area unlock items like the prince's rose.
Apparently Super Metroid only has 100 checks, which surprised me a bit considering how long that game feels. The best thing I could find for it at the moment would be either the Gravity Suit or the Wave Beam, both mostly just to get to new areas. Speed Boots would be a nice secondary find, though.
Z1's going very well, the biggest missing items at the moment by far being the Ladder and a source of fire, either from a Candle or the Magic Wand since I already have the book. Though more keys are always nice too.
ALttP (thank GOD I got the boots early!) is going decently well so far, but my main issue is a lack of Mirror to return from the Dark World. The Hook Shot and my last Power Glove item are also locking the second half of it currently.
And lastly OoT. There's a lot I can still do here, one MAJOR thing being the child pot room that I now know the location of, unfortunately it requires 'breaking in' to Death Mountain Trail from the top, going all the way to the bottom, waiting 'till day, then going through Talon's house to put the sword back, then going all the way back up the mountain as young Link, then crossing all the way back to where adult Link spawns just to find the room in question. Extremely tedious for me right now after playing mostly all day. That will be my first target in the morning which will land probably 30+ checks at least. What I desperately need in OoT (beyond more ice traps of course) is either a considerable amount more of Bombchus, or a Bomb Bag, and SOMETHING I can use as adult to hit things from afar. Bow, Hookshot, Dins and Magic, I really don't care, just something.
Anyway, good luck to the people playing while I sleep! ^^

Oh, and one more thing:
View attachment 172832
Absolutely bought it. (Made all traps free.) Speaking of which, how many Ice Traps has Alex_Among_Foxes gotten? ...79! Wow.

Thank you LOL.

Outer Wilds is a player-directed exploration game, where the only collectable is more knowledge. Even though the ap mod makes it so this player knowledge is now mostly gated with items, I don't want to accidentally spoil puzzle solutions. (A lot of them are still the vanilla solution, I just have to wait to get the item that makes that solution work.) If you want to check out Outer Wilds, it's on sale right now on Steam. And if you enjoy the gameplay, you should pick up the DLC too.

Instead, I'll just document the deaths of our narcoleptic astronaut who is cosmically linked with a theme park on the other side of the universe. But only the Deathlink-able ones.

Death 1: Asphyxiation.
While exploring the surface of Ember Twin with their partially repaired Translator, the astronaut had failed to keep track of their limited fuel supply and used the last of it while puttering across the the rocky terrain. Though this is easily refilled back at the ship, they were a great distance from it, and only had 2 minutes worth of oxygen remaining.
The astronaut made a good effort running back, but unfortunately took their last gasps and died.

Death 2: Energy
While flying back towards the Hourglass Twins, the planets orbiting closest to the Sun, the astronaut felt their eyelids growing heavy. Before getting the chance to change course, they fell asleep at the wheel and their ship coasted right into the Sun.
For once, flying directly into the Sun was not the autopilot's fault.

Death 3: Energy
The astronaut, having seen everything important they can at this point in time, decided they would land on the Sun Station for fun. The Sun Station is in a low orbit around the Sun, so careful flying would be needed to catch up to it without burning up. Entering a parallel orbit above the station, with small adjustments to match velocity and creep closer to the Sun Station (and Sun), the ship was lined up. With one big death-defying leap, the astronaut drifted inside the station itself. Admiring the view of the other planets whizzing past, the astronaut spent their last minute watching the Sun expand into a red giant and swallow the Sun Station whole.
So, this is what a marshmallow feels like.

Was a bit tired and didn't do too much Leaf Green yesterday, so decided to start with that today! I'll be listing all the items/checks I do, anything in red is marked as progression if you don't want to sift through the lists.

Pewter City

This is where we finished up yesterday. There isn't actually much here check-wise, other than the hidden item in the top left and defeating Brock. So after acquiring some new, cool and hip party members, we grab the item and head straight to Brock. Brock is mega ultra super easy mode, even with the 20% increase in levels his Pokemon have. Although the Delcatty mirror match was funny!

For our troubles, he awards us with: TM15 for Setsuna's Emerald, 20 Rings for my SA2B and a Gold Ring for my Sonic 1. As we leave to scale Mt. Moon, we've caught enough Pokémon for Professor Oak's Aide, and are rewarded with some Optimized Logistics for EoT's Hellions in Starcraft 2. Here's how our team is looking at the moment:

Checks done

Pewter Gym defeated - Ice Trap (OoT), TM15 (Setsuna Emerald), Rings x 20 (Arc SA2B), Gold Ring (Sonic 1)
Hidden Item in northwest - HP Up (ST Emerald)
Reward from Oak's Aide - Optimized Logistics (Starcraft 2)

Route 3 -> Cerulean City

Yay lots of checks! As we don't have Dexsanity in FRLG yet, this means the majority of checks will come from Trainer battles, and there's quite a few here! Routes 3 and 4 don't have much of importance content-wise, so onto Mt. Moon!

I forgot how much of a behemoth this place is. Very big which means lots of encounters and lots of things to find. Fun! It does also mean we had some crazy opponents though. I have a 20% increase on all Trainer Pokémon and as much as that means I'm only facing level 16-18s right now, it has been a bit of a pain when battles like this occur:

I actually go the wrong way and end up at the Cerulean-side exit, meaning I do forgot some checks initially. However I do have access to Fly AND the Thunder Badge already, so thankfully I can fly back to Route 4 and go back through Mt. Moon, clearing it in full. Thank god, because it's such a slog! After picking up the remaining items and teaching Dragon Rage to our Delcatty, we make it to Cerulean City!

Cerulean City

Thankfully I don't need to do any shenanigans to be able to challenge the Gym, so first I grab the other checks and then head straight to the Gym so I can clear everything I can in Cerulean (other than paying a literal million dollars for the Bike lmao). At this point I shelved Volbeat as it just wasn't working out and have brought in Altaria (mainly as it has Dragon Dance as a move, pretty radical). The Trainers are super ez, so time to take on Misty.

Who immediately leads with this:

Thankfully the Trainer battles + whatever random EXP modifier I have on has beefed my team up quite a bit. Articuno goes down quite easily and she sends out a Skitty. I decide to be daring and use Altaria against it, seeing if I can Dragon Dance my way to victory. Unfortunately I eat a Hyper Beam and die immediately, so back to real Pokémon I guess. Once Skitty is defeated, so is Misty!

Misty hands over the Ca- I mean er... Candle?! Alex definitely eating good tonight! We also get another Emblem for me and some Summer Squash Seeds for Devalue's farm (I want a discount on those okay?!). Most importantly however, that's Cerulean all checked out for now! Time to see what else we can get. Here's how the team is looking:

Checks done

Berry Powder Man Gift - Energy Tank (Super Metroid),
Hidden Item behind Badge Guy's house - Shield (Arc SA2B)
Cerulean Gym defeated - Rings x 10 (EoT SA2B), Hoo Bean (M&LSS), Candle (Zelda 1), Emblem x 1 (Arc SA2B), Summer Squash Seeds (Stardew Valley)

Cerulean City -> Vermilion City

So we're actually going to do a little detour first before going to Vermilion City, as I want to get all the checks along Route 24s and 25. We head up to Nugget Bri- oh dammit, why the music change? Oh no, it's you... it's Ash the Blue!

After we defeat him and smell him later, he EVER so kindly gives us a gift. Useless for me, but hopefully useful for Link in Zelda 1! NOW we can go do what we wanted to do. Firstly we clear out Nugget Bridge, including the very annoying Team Rocket Grunt that actually made me think I was softlocked after repeating their entire script again lmao.

Then we saunter along, destroying all the noobs until we enter the Sea Cottage and see a talking Clefairy! It turns out that Bill did a Jeff Goldblum and got merged with a creature. Thankfully he looks a lot better than Jeff did. We rescue Bill from being changed into a Fairy Type in a few generations, earning an incredibly worth Potion. Sick dude thanks.

We have nothing else left here now, so it's back to Cerulean and as we don't have Cut or the Badge to use it, we need to go to Vermilion instead via the Underground Path and Route 6. We snag all the hidden items on the way (that I somehow managed to find immediately, does that make me a nerd?), crush some more Trainer's dreams (minus one person who had both a Kyogre AND a Moltres on their team xd) and head to the best location in Pokémon.

Checks done

Defeat Rival - Bitter Berry (Crystal)

Stolen TM from Team Rocket - Air Combo Plus (KH2)

Vermilion City

As I don't have Cut access still, I can't actually do the Gym here, so I just grab all of the checks in places like the Pokémon Centre and Fan Club and the such, so at least they're done and out of the way.

Checks done

Vermilion Pokémon Centre gift - Common Item (Risk of Rain)
Hidden Item near Pokémon Centre - Rupee x 1 (OoT)
Fishing Guru gift - Supercharge (Doom)
Fan Club Chairman gift - Heal Powder (Arc LG)

Vermilion City -> Lavender Town

So I was checking my Tracker and could see that I could do quite a bit around the Route 10/Lavender Town area, however was a bit confused because I couldn't access that. Or so I thought. I had completely forgotten that I had a free Fly location, which happened to be Route 10! Although whilst checking this I did also see some other loose checks that I decided I'd go and sort out before starting that segment.

First off - Route 22 and Victory Road. We start off with the Rival fight (nice and easy, he only has level 11s here) before moving to the Pokémon League and Victory Road. There wasn't much here, BUT I went in way over my head when I did the Victory Road check, as it happened to be this battle...

Thankfully through the power of trash AI movesets and outnumbering them, we did it!

I did decide that I'd catch a Pokémon as a little treat. I was very glad I did, as it was a level 34 Ho-oh with HUGE POWER. Going to be very fun to use! Now this did open up another check, which was getting the reward from Professor Oak for beating our Rival. I am glad I decided to go and get it, because this actually unlocks the Fly HM for Deva!

With that whole area now done, I decided to clear out Route 11 next to Vermilion City (and get the Aide check here too), so again that is out of the way when I return to beat Lt. Surge. With that done, it was time to finally head to Route 10 and get the (currently) last lot of checks out of the way!

Route 10 thankfully is very small, however the Rock Tunnel is once again massive... after managing to get through (and obtain some new Pokéfriends), we finally make it to Lavender Town! Here is how the team is looking right now (EXP modifier + lots of Trainers is causing a bit of an issue in that catching Pokémon is basically luck of the draw, as I just kill everything atm).

Lavender Town

So there's no Gym here, however it seems there's a commotion at the Pokémon Tower. Time to go see what's going on there then. We don't get too far in though we're greeted by - groan - fake Ash aka our Rival.

The real question is why are YOU here, faker? After threatening to kill my Pokémon (what the fuck), we wipe the floor with him (and then beat him up), before exploring the tower. As we don't have the Silph Scope yet, we can't fully complete this, but again I'm clearing out the checks so I'm not having to do them later when I return.

Checks done

Rival defeated (Pokémon Tower) - Crusher Beam (Earthbound)
Trainers defeated - Chuckle Bean (M&L SS), Trout Yogurt (Earthbound), Uncommon Item (Risk of Rain), Shiny Ring (Sonic 1), For Sale Sign (Earthbound), Hoo Bean (M&L SS), TM15 (ST Blue), Rings x 20 (Arc SA2B), Advanced Laser Technology (Starcraft 2), Ketchup Packet (Earthbound), Pearl (ST FR), Lax Incense (ST FR), Teleporter Fragment (Risk of Rain)

Cleaning up checks

I only have Celadon City to do now, so I'll just be clearing up all the checks I can do before moving on to there, so here will be everything listed from me doing that!

Checks done

Trainers defeated - Ice Trap #978473452^83784893 (OoT), Heart Scale (Arc LG), Poké Ball (ST Emerald), Liechi Berry (Setsuna Emerald), Chuckle Bean x 2 (M&L SS), Rupees x 20 (OoT), TM18 (ST FR), Time Piece (A Hat in Time), 150 Pons (A Hat in Time), Yellow Flute (Setsuna Emerald), Taiga Skateboard (BRCF), PP Up (ST Blue), Eject Button (OW), Hyper Potion (Setsuna Emerald),

Route 12 Mourning Lass gift - Black Flute (Setsuna Emerald)

Celadon City

I can't do the Gym here yet, same as Vermilion, as I still need Cut access. So we'll go and clear out all the checks we can do, as there are a fair few.

Checks done

Tea Woman gift - Rabbit's Foot (Earthbound)
Coin Case gift - Sword of the Ancestor (KH2)
Rocket House item
- Money (Risk of Rain)
Hidden Item near Cut tree - Expanded Hull (Starcraft 2)
Thirsty Girl rewards - Box of Rockets (Doom), Ultra Ball (ST FR), Graffiti Web Spitter (BRCF)

I'm now completely BK'd (stuck) until I get some things to progress. Surf/Cut and the Cut Badge would be super amazing, Silph Scope will allow me to complete the Pokémon Tower. Can't think of much else right now I need for progression that isn't more endgame stuff.

Here's the team at this point in the run!

Got Phobos Anomoly (E1M8) and Military Base (E1M9).
Thank you! These had World Card Agrabah for CherrimKHCOM and the Tendakraut for your Earthbound.

This post will be for my Sonic Games and the progress made, then I'll do another one for RCT2.

Sonic 1

Someone very kindly unlocked Green Hill Zone for me, so I've just gone and completed all checks for that I can. BK'd again until I get more level keys/special stages unlocked.

SA2B

I will just list what I get from each level/mission and then do a section for Chao unlocks. I'll be just listing anything that's marked as progression items i.e. purple in the clients. If there's something you've specifically asked to be pinged on then I'll ping you!

Sky Rail

Magical Rod - Zelda 1 (@Alex_Among_Foxes I think this is super important?)
Membership Card - KH2
Signalscope - Outer Wilds
Both missions I can do are done, need Mystic Melody for the last one. Have done the Gold Beetle and Chao Boxes, most of the easily obtainable Item Boxes and some whistle spots, will revisit later unless an important hint comes up.

Wild Canyon

Hidden Gorge Painting Code - Outer Wilds
I have got everything I can here for now - I need Mystic Melody to complete Mission 3 and Sunglasses to get the last two Item Boxes. Even got the Dragon twice to get all the Dragon part checks out of the way.

Meteor Herd

Rietveld - BRCF
Small Key (Spirit Temple) - OoT
Could probably find the other Item Boxes that I can, but have done quite a bit here for now. Same as Sky Rail, will return later unless needed sooner. Managed to blag Mission 1 with good RNG, need Mystic Melody for Mission 3 though.

Chao Unlocks

Deva - Pokémon Crystal
Silver Wing
S.S. Ticket

Deva - Earthbound
Shyness Book
Bad Key Machine

EoT - BRCF
Rep + 16
BMX (oyo)
Graffiti pico pow

EoT - Starcraft 2
Zealot
Widow Mines

Cherrim - Kingdom Hearts 2

Second Chance
High Jump

Cherrim - Fire Red
HM07 Waterfall

Alex - OoT
Gold Skulltula Token x 1
Bow

Alex - Zelda 1
Heart Container x 1

Alex - ALttP
Small Key (Misery Mire)

I've also hinted for three items:
[Hint]: ArcSA2B's Sonic - Light Shoes is at Rocket Warehouse - Recover Stolen Gem in STFireRed's World. (not found)
[Hint]: ArcSA2B's Rouge - Pick Nails is at Aqua Hideout B1F - Team Aqua Grunt 3 in SetsunaEmerald's World. (not found)
[Hint]: ArcSA2B's Sonic - Bounce Bracelet is at Beanbean Castle Town Beanlet 2 in Alex M&L's World. (not found)

So just when you can please @Alex_Among_Foxes @SonicThrust @Setsuna <3

[Hint]: ArcSA2B's Sonic - Bounce Bracelet is at Beanbean Castle Town Beanlet 2 in Alex M&L's World. (not found)

That'll be super easy to get just as soon as I have my ability to tunnel with Luigi, which is also the single biggest roadblock to my progression in that game in general, so I'm hoping to either find or get it today sometime just because of how many checks and locations are locked behind it.

I'm definitely going lower effort on my posts here! But I always love seeing how everyone else does theirs, it's fun checking in every so often!
I did a short pass of Cave Story and Emerald today but a lot of my time so far was spent on Final Fantasy V. I've got a couple or so hours today to go back to Emerald and grab anything I can there, but since I just finished my big first sweep of FFV, I thought I'd give another update.

I put Cave Story as Soft BK Mode because it isn't blocked, but the remaining checks require me to fight Omega which is extremely difficult with only 3HP and the Polar Star. Things like Progressive Polar Star, a lot more Life upgrades, or other weapons like Missiles, Blade, or Nemesis would help, there just isn't a specific thing I want to hint for currently.
Cave Story is still Soft BK. Thanks to the Machine Gun from Alex a lot of the platforming in Sand Zone was much easier and Omega went down pretty easy. I was able to clean up most of Grasstown, including freeing Kazuma and defeating Balfrog. Cave Story tends to be a game with a lot of small checks that require several items, so most of the key items I get will be helpful. The reason it's still in Soft BK is that I have a good handful of checks in Labyrinth that I could theoretically get, but I'd either require all 5 Puppies to enter the Labyrinth the normal way, or enter at the midpoint and fight one of the hardest bosses in the game. Fighting something that deals 3 damage per hit when you have 7HP and limited weaponry is not fun. If I got a decent amount more Life Capsules I could probably eventually brute force my way through without any progression items. A Booster would also be incredibly helpful if someone happens to get it. I believe Booster 2.0 is required for my goal but I'll take Booster 0.8 just for convenience until then. 32/68

Pokemon Emerald is blocked, but the first pass felt very rewarding. Logical story progression would require stuff like whatever's necessary to give the letter to Steven and head to Slateport, but it's Pokemon Emerald so most HMs would help out, especially HM03 Surf and the Balance Badge. I'd love these if they came up and will probably hint for them if necessary tomorrow, I think it's just too early to hint right now.
Pokemon Emerald is open! I've received both Surf and the Balance Badge so a good chunk of Hoenn is open for me and will continue to open as I just progress through the game normally. If necessary I'll hint for anything I still need once I've hit my next wall, but normal progression through Emerald is where my attention is going currently. The typical helpful items like Magma Emblem will probably still be important if I don't get them by then. 93/952 as I'm writing this.

Final Fantasy V is pretty open, but I spent a lot of time grabbing whatever checks I could think of with random encounters turned off, so most things left are things like dungeons or bosses and a substantial amount of my time tomorrow will probably be spent leveling up for those. Any kind of job crystal would be extremely helpful, as I'm locked to pretty much only White and Black mages. Any kind of Blue Magic would also be useful as I've thankfully received the !Blue command already, so I'll likely be relying on that to fight enemies without job crystals.
Final Fantasy V is walled as far as I'm aware. A couple of the checks my tracker is saying are available to me are in areas I can go to, but I don't have whatever pre-requisites I need to actually obtain them. A lot of time today was spent either fighting bosses by tossing an extreme amount of money at them (whoever got me the Samurai crystal is fantastic, thank you!) or grinding for gil and EXP to take on said bosses. A lot got done today and I'm unsure exactly on how progression is going to work for me since I've just never played Career Day before, but the key for the Steamship is going to get me a good amount of checks, and whatever gets me into the endgame world will be when the game really breaks open. 173/249

I'm taking a quick break, but will be back on later. I did as I said and grabbed all the pot room checks in OoT along with a good deal more thanks to Arc finding my Bow and Bomb Bag. I also got quite a few in Death Mountain Crater thanks to Setsu finding my warp song to get me there. And it'll be a huge QoL find in the long run for adult Link to escape having to constantly clime the outside of DM every time I switch eras.
