"Meinshao.. no, it's Mienshao!"

Most of them.

I constantly enter Pokemon names into google so I can ensure I'm not butchering the spelling.

  • Alomomola. Knows about it being a palindrome. Tries to spell it "Alolamola" anyways.
  • Exeggutor. Why would you spell the first form as "Exeggcute", but then drop the 'C' for the next form?
  • Victreebel. Weepinbell to Victreebel. What did the 'L' do to you?
  • Amoonguss. Foongus to Amoonguss. 'S' this time.
  • Naganadel. Skips the last 'A'. Pronounces it incorrectly too.
  • Trevenant. Spells it with an 'E' instead of an 'A'.
  • Zweilous. What even is this spelling?
  • Heliolisk. Drops that second 'L'. Persists by pronouncing it wrong too.
  • Boltund. Wants to insert an 'H' to make it "Bolthund".
  • Pincurchin. See above. Turns into "Pinchurchin".

Used to spell Salamence, Hydreigon, Gyarados, Feraligatr, Vivillon, Dragalge, and Toxtricity poorly. Improved on those.

Exeggutor is a freakin' pain, I often end up spelling it "Exeggcutor" because that makes infinitely more sense and it's generally how it's spoken aloud in the anime. I have occasionally forgotten there is an additional "c" in Manectric too, because it's such an awkward name to say.

Weirdly, those are the only ones I've ever struggled with. I've always been pretty good with spelling generally.

Kangaskhan! I always mess up the position of the "h" in the middle. I try remembering that it's supposed to be like Genghis Khan, but I still mess it up sometimes. (Now that I'm into Star Trek, however, I probably should try remembering Khan Noonien-Singh to spell Kangaskhan correctly.)

I have a similar problem with Rattata as well; I seldom recall which one is supposed to be a double "t" without having to look it up.

Aside from a bunch that are already mentioned.... I persistently type Graveler with two l's.

Electrike - always think the 'c' is a 'l' too. Generally I'm pretty great though, like if spelling bees were a thing in the UK stage fright would be all that held me back haha

I remember, when I was little, I always had a habit of spelling certain Pokémon names incorrectly because I spelled the words that they were based on correctly, if that makes sense. lol For example, I always spelled certain Pokémon names as Ghastly, Coughing, Wheezing, Muck, Seal, Dugong, Crabby, Sock, Paris, and you get the idea. I had to constantly see their names spelled in-game to learn how to spell them correctly. Oddly enough, I never had any trouble spelling names like Pyukumuku though, which is weird. lol

I can't believe it's Phanpy and not Phanphy. I misremembered its name for so many years. But, a lot of the newer Pokemon have really difficult names. Xerneas, Yveltal, Xurkitree? What kid is going to be able to pronounce those or even spell them right?! Jeepers creepers ate some peepers. :|

i once took an online test to see if i could name all pokemon from gen i-viii from memory and i gave up on spelling arrokuda and perrserker correctly lol

Newer Pokémon in general take some getting used to when it comes to spelling them correctly. From Scarlet and Violet alone I remember Dondozo, Gholdengo, Dudunsparce, Toedscool, and Toedscruel tripping me up.

I don't have too much trouble with any Pokemon names anymore, but as a kid I always misspelled Carvanha. My confusion cleared up once I learned what a piranha is lmao.
