It would seem there's going to 632 Pokemon in the Galar Pokedex (uncomfirmed right now). No other starters or legendaries/mythicals (probably) and I assume Ultra Beasts aren't gonna make it in, either. This is what I assumed from the very beginning, but that also means there's other Pokemon besides starters/legendaries and mythicals that won't be in... so that's...uh... 140 Pokemon missing, I wonder what the other missing ones are going to be, then.

....If you subtract 809 from 632, you get 177. But I'm wondering how many more besides that will be since I'm not taking account the new Pokemon yet. Maybe there will be 200 missing?

Right now, there's 78 new Pokemon, from the looks of it, but it seems there's some Pokemon that haven't been discovered yet...

Snom is my new favorite Sw/Sh Pokémon. It's a jewel slug caterpillar! :D

Ice is tied as one of my favorite types and I'm really into moths, but I'm not in love with Frosmoth yet. I think I would've liked it more if its eyes were rounder (more moth-like). Sort of gives me Pheromosa vibes as-is. Assuming it's supposed to be a counterpart to the fire centipede (which got a Gigantimax form), I'm hoping I'll at least fall in love with its Gigantimax form.

I am excited about the news of possible different combination of the fossil Pokemon in Galar!
I saw a SS of four of their mini sprites in the Pokedex and I am so hyped for all of them.

Oh nooo, this is gonna be a big one. Welp, here goes nothing.

Gigantamax forms

G-Kingler: Okay, this is definitely a weird creature to say the least. I can sorta get behind it though. I'll keep this in mind if ever catch one of those crabs in the game.

G-Machamp: I honestly prefer regular Machamp. This is probably... the least good of the 4 new G-forms. It's head became thinner and it's arms now glow? 0-0 Okay then...

G-Lapras: Remember seeing this in an earlier leak. My opinion might change over time but overall I'd say it's pretty decent.

G-Garbodor: Is... it weird that this is my favourite of the bunch? It's virtually both a wasteland and a hot mess... and that somehow makes me like it for a very strange reason.

AS for the gen8 ones, I'll just state it here: I think all of them are fine.

New mons

The ladybug: Wow. And here I was thinking how awesome a Ledian evolution/mega/gigantamax that was Bug/Psychic and was inspired of some kind of magician would be, and then the game throws out a real Psychic ladybug. Okay then.

The bird's pre evos:

Coal mon's evos: Welp, did not see that coming at all.

Imp mon's evos: Neither did I see this comming. Knowing the creators I felt as if they were going to trick us with it having an interesting typing and make it into a legendary or a rare mon or a mon with convulated ways to get but then they decided to be nice and give 3 stages to the line. Interesting.

The new fishes: So the fish used by the seagull is now it's own mon with an evo too. interesting.

The fighting octopi: So octopus mons but it's the whole line and not a fish becoming one. Not bad.

The rest of the bugs: Yeah, that's a LOT of new bugs.

Dunno what to say about everything else.

Regional forms:

The new Corsola and it's evo: Honestly I would have rather they gave Corsola an actual evolution. Maybe they can make a regular version of this new one and call it a permanent evo, that would be great.

The new Rapidash: I'm not gonna lie, this, as well as the new Ponyta are by far my favourite new mons in gen8. But first, slight issues outside of lacking wings (obviously but hopefully the give it an interesting typing then). That expression is... not interesting but since it's just a still image hopefully it looks better in battle. Everything else about the design is A+.

The new Stunfisk: Did not expect this at all, but hey, I can see what they were going for. Not gonna go out of my way to catch it, though.

The new Mime and it's evo: Ok, not bad I guess. I presume it is part Ice? Reminds me of when I caught a Mime in one of my randomisers and it was randomised to be an Ice mon.

The new Darmanitan: Pretty interesting.

Well that is... something. Although it really doesn't look like a Pokemon. It looks like something from any other different creature taming franchise.

Some good designs and some bad ones. The starters are easily the worst we've had since Gen 5, and I really do not care for some of these designs - the entire Impidimp line is trash, and the fossils are very badly designed even if the concept is cool - but others I quite like. Honestly I think the names of some of the Pokemon are better than the Pokemon themselves - Sinistea made me smile, and so did Sandaconda. Orbeetle is a Gurren Lagann bug and that's great. There's also a blue tit Pokemon and I fucking adore blue tits. But the Galarian forms are even less imaginative than the Alolan forms were, there is FAR too much Kanto pandering in there, and re-designing old Pokemon (AGAIN for some) does not excuse the pitifully small number of actual new Pokemon. Quality over quantity would be fine if there was more quality there.

Also what the fucking hell is Eternatus supposed to be? It looks like an X-Virus Digimon...or a Tallneck from Horizon Zero Dawn.

Better than Gen VII, about on-par with Gen VI and V, worse than everything else. Could be worse. Could be better. If not for the disgustingly small number of Pokemon included in the game I would actually be quite interested!
