    Have you ever had your wisdom teeth removed ?
    I need mine removed and am scared of what to expect. I would like to know what it is like to help calm my nerves.

    if you haven't had them removed then are lucky.
     
    Uhhhhh my story's not going to make you any calmer. But for real don't worry it's hecka rare that there are any complications. It's easy as heck, especially if you go under. They stick a needle in ya and you don't have any idea what's happening until you wake up very confused about why your mouth hurts. Recovery's the sucky part tbh.
     
    I have to have mine removed soon. I was supposed to a few months ago but the doctors decided that it wasn't quite time to remove them. At the moment only one of mine as started to come in but I can tell the other ones are close due to the pain in my mouth. Not looking forward at all to it XD
     
    Mine have come through absolutely fine and don't need to be removed.
    It won't be any different to having any other tooth pulled, but you could be pretty sore in the recovery process - most people manage fine though.

    From what I have heard from those who have had them removed or need them removed, it is when they come through that hurts the most.
     
    Mine are still there. The bottom right one is fully grown while the top left and right are half out. Bottom left one's barely poking out/mostly under the skin.

    Dentist told me there wasn't a need to get rid of them right now since they fit in fine and don't cause any issues. But who knows what'll happen regarding the bottom left one when it starts to grow out if ever, aha.
     
    I had a couple of mine removed 2-3 years ago and it was painful D: The anesthesia obviously helped during the procedure, but then once I got home and it started wearing off, I was in massive amount of pain. Mom was gone for a few hours to go do errands and get the pain medication, so I spent that time trying to keep myself from crying in bed ;-; And I would drool non-stop XD Unfortunately I still have another set to pull out sometime in the future...
     
    Nope! Not yet (maybe never, hopefully), although I thought they were coming it but it was probably just a swollen gum, as I've never had a hurting mouth since that incident (which was 3 months ago).

    I'm only fifteen, so they'll probably come sooner or later.
     
    I never have had any pain like they are coming in. I have 2 wisdom teeth apparently, but right now, they are doing nothing to me.
    However, my girlfriend got them removed over summer and she was miserable for a solid week after the fact. The surgery itself is a piece of cake though. You won't feel a thing and you can get a great video of how screwed up you are after the fact (:
     
    Mine actually wasn't bad at all, after the surgery. They couldn't really get the needle in for the medicine that would knock me out, and I was so confused b/c they had strapped me down and I was already on the laughing gas haha. After the surgery I just went hope and everyone else was really confused because my face didn't swell at all really, and I could eat real food after 2 days. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones ;~;
     
    I found out back in September that mine were coming in. My sister had to get hers pulled at almost 22 (literally less than two months before she graduated from college), and my twin brother had his out at 18 (right before he graduated from high school). If this is anything to go by, then I just know my turn is gonna come, and i'm not looking forward to it. D:
     
    My first one is growing in right now, actually. I have zero knowledge of wisdom teeth, honestly. Is it good that it doesn't hurt as it's growing, or is it supposed to grow out first before the pain kicks in?

    Should probably hit my dentist up sometime soon.

    If it's not bothering you then it's not a big issue :P That's how it was for me, but my dentist still insisted on pulling them out >>;; Though if it does cause you pain, should probably get them pulled ASAP.
     
    I still have my wisdom teeth, and one of them from my top right is starting to stick out of my gums. I'm afraid of getting them removed due to getting a life achievement of living life to the fullest without having any of my permanent teeth intact.

    The actual pulling, assuming you're under anesthesia, isn't that bad; it's the result afterwards D: Couldn't eat anything for a few days and was surviving on rice pudding. The constant drooling and needing tissue boxes left and right of me wasn't much fun either >>;;
     
    I had mine removed about two years ago. They were impacted so I was put under during the procedure. Didn't take long at all. Came to in a separate room than I had been in, which confused me, but I guess I had already been conscious enough to be lead down the hall to this separate room where you are put in to recover from the anesthesia a little bit more.

    Didn't hurt for maybe an hour after, but that was probably because the anesthesia was still working. Once it had worn off, I was in a world of pain. Had to replace the cotton they put in several times. But once the bleeding had calmed down a little bit and I had my prescription pain meds, I was more or less all set. It did hurt for at least a week though. If you get something prescribed for the pain, I suggest taking advil in-between the dosages so you don't use your whole prescription up in the first couple days (like I did).

    This probably wasn't very reassuring. I've known plenty of people who have gotten their wisdom teeth out and didn't have to deal with hardly any pain though. I think it is different for everybody, I'm sure you'll be able to ride through it just fine. I also smoked cigarettes which make your gums more sensitive which would explain the increased pain I had to deal with.

    I think it depends on the person, because from what I can recall wisdom teeth aren't in the same place in everyone's mouth, ex. they could be growing completely sideways, too close to teeth/jaw, etc. If it doesn't hurt now then I'm sure that you're fine as that means it hasn't grown into anything yet, I would just tell them next time you go to the dentist if it still doesn't hurt.

    The pulling wasn't that bad and people say that what happened afterwards was bad for them but it wasn't really for me at all ;; I could walk around and everything and eat after 2 days as I posted above ^^ I.. think I'm probably the only one tho haha.

    Yeah, I had all six of mine removed when I was like 15 or 16 or 17.

    Yes, you heard right. Six. I had more than four. An abnormality. It was a brutal procedure that I had to be knocked out for because of there being more. I was out of it for a week after, but at least I got to eat a lot of milkshakes ^_^
