I'm another that unofficially went on an intermittent fasting diet. Since I got braces, I didn't want to deal with the whole process of taking the trays and rubber bands out, cleaning them, brushing my teeth, and putting everything back in. It was just easier to not eat. So I only eat from the hours of 3-9 pm, when I have easier access to a toothbrush.
It's probably not super healthy, but I did lose quite a bit of weight.
Other than that, I've started eating healthy because these days, I care more about how I feel in the long term compared to the instant gratification of bad food. So I cut out the chips, cookies, candy, and soda that I used to consume every day. Not to say that I don't deprive myself of these things completely. I just eat a lot less of them!
