How do you beat the heat?

I live in the south and it's getting hot in here. It's touched on 90 degrees the last couple of days. I'm in an old, big house in need of insulation and several repairs and the cooling system is about as effective as someone breathing on you when there are extremes of temperature. It's still muggy and unpleasant indoors with ac running, windows open and fan.

I try to stay alive by constantly drinking water filled to the brim with crushed ice. I take cold showers, and when at home find the most lightweight clothes that I can, sport a spaghetti strap tank top and short shorts. Sit in the shade when I am outdoors. Ice cream also helps. Ben & Jerry's and Halo Top are your friends.

What tricks do you employ to survive the summer heat? I need to learn from you.

I complain about it until it goes away, in good old British fashion.

i sit and suffer ;_; there's really no way for me to properly cool down without turning the ac on. showers can help, but only briefly, and i'm lazy to keep showering haha. i also have a ceiling fan in my room which helps a little bit, though it still mostly just blows the hot air around.

I do nothing because I can't feel heat. Even if I'm sweating, I don't care, and won't notice. But, if I do, whatever. I can take it. I wear a jacket all summer, anyway, and never really feel hot.

Is that you then?

And yeah, it's getting really hot here too...try doing barbell squats in 85 degrees outside at 7 PM with 65 humidity...

You would hope that after 18 years of Australian summer that I'd develop a tolerance to the heat but no, I still melt every year :( We didn't have AC until last year so my favourite go to tactics before that were turning up the fan at the highest speed possible, splashing cold water on the face / neck, hiding downstairs where it's cooler and eating a ton of cold food like ice cream. If I had to be outside then shade, hat and activities like swimming help. Also we conveniently have been missing a month of summer for the past few years when we've gone overseas to the Northern Hemisphere so that's certainly one way to not get caught up in the heat?

Honestly, in England we only get proper heat for around two months of the year, and it's quite rare to have a house with AC, unlike other countries. To beat the heat I'll mainly stay indoors in the shade when I get too hot from sitting outside, or take a cold shower. It's been pretty hot here recently though, the other day I poured water over myself after working out, so that's always a temporary fix to the hot weather haha. (and yeah lots of ice cream)

lots and lots of fans and cold water
also cold showers help a lot i have learned to take one just recently (this year)

if u have an AC u are blessed

I don't need to, it's not even close to warm here.

Our house is always freezing since my mother likes turning the air conditioner onto very low temperatures.

I don't mind, but it means when I get inside I need to put on winter clothing.

I absolutely adore the heat; I wear a fur-trimmed coat year round with no issues. I am at risk for heatstroke though, for other reasons not related to the fur coat so I do try to stay on top of being hydrated. You could always do what Dulse does, and order and undershirt ice vest. It seems like it works well for he.
