You're in charge of deciding what Pokémon game to release next. What do you choose?

Imagine you're in charge of the next Pokémon game and can decide what it will be. What would you ideally have released? Perhaps a new game in the Ranger series? Let's Go Johto? Maybe an XY remake? Possibly even a Colosseum sequel for the Switch? Or would you jump straight to generation 10 with the game set in a region of your choice? This is solely based on your personal preferences, so feel free to be open regardless of how likely you think it actually is!

i would release a new entry on the mystery dungeon series, especially because its been 7 years since the last one! (not counting the rescue team remake)
i would likely have it around gen 7/8, and have an more diverse starter choice, mons like zorua, sneasel, skiddo would have been awesome starters, and of course... eevee. Come on, its been 2 games (Gates and Super) without it, there is no reason to not have it lol ( i just want to have my cinderace - sylveon rescue team :( )
i dont remenber if this is a feauture on super, but i would get rid of the gender locked starters, i dont mind playing as a girl but it just makes absolutely no sense to keep it.
i would probably have it based around a guild. theres just something about it that its just charming to me lol.
the story could be based around the ultra-beasts or zamian/zamacenta. Honestly these gens have a lot that could be explored in an MD game.

Another Legends game, with some more polish and with lower amounts required for research Tasks as they were way too grindy in L:A.
Legends: Mew, Legends: Victini or Legends: Zeraora would appeal to me the most, sticking with the mythical theme.

Though a New Snap 2 sounds appealing too.

As Rekoil said, another Legends game, but more polished.

Replace the more boring and grindy research tasks with new and more interesting ones. Make a better story. Add some more variety to what wild Pokémon are doing, more interaction with the environment and with each other so that the world feels more alive. And I'd like to see Abilities as well, some Pokémon lose a lot of value without them.

Pokémon Ranger - if implemented well with the Joy-Cons - would be interesting. Especially if they can do open-world properly.

Another Legends - although I haven't completed the first one - would also go down well. I'd love one for Hoenn - perhaps with Arceus again pulling the strings, as like an overarching thing for the series, but Rayquaza would be the final boss. They could truly embrace Hoenn's tropical environment in full 3D, which would be awesome. Have Tropius as the flying ride Pokémon, Sharpedo for surf, Sableye (that you don't ride) for the item-finding, Vigoroth? for scaling walls, and Manectric for running around. Or use the starters - Sceptile can climb walls and trees!, Blaziken could charge around with you on its back, and Swampert could be used in Water.

Or, given my fear that they'll give it the BDSP treatment and keep the sprites etc. I could just greenlight a fully 3D remake of Black and White, with B2W2 areas added in post-game (perhaps as an expansion of that Looker quest, Ghetsis' revival being stopped whilst the ship is still under construction!).

Legends: Unova, set during the time that the two brothers used the Tao Dragon to unite the various peoples of the region. Y'all will be waiting a while for it though, because I'm not gonna adhere to the "put out a game every year" development cycle shit that Game Freak has been doing for the past decade or so.

Well, you know if I'm in charge of the developing a Pokémon game, it's definitely going to be a gen 5 Unova remake! However, this remake isn't going to be like BDSP. It's going to have graphics similar to Pokémon Sword and Shield or Let's Go so that we can really experience the region in the best possible way!

UPDATE: Yay! 600 posts! I've come a long way!

These Gen V remakes should have PWT, but with Dynamax / G-Max because the Galar champion brought Eternatus along!

A brand new spinoff game, for the Harvest Moon fans out there who would, for whatever reason, want to do Pokemon with farming.

Because somehow, Pokemon does not have a Pokemon farming game. Just call it "Pokemon Breeder" and call it a day, maybe, lol.

Probably Pokemon Z (a third version of X/Y) for the Switch. Focuses on Zygarde. Sets the game before or after X/Y, to keep Team Flare out of major conflicts.

Takes off the kid gloves on gym leaders and Elite Four. Fears regular trainers more than them. (Sprinkled in some rough trainers, in fairness.) Wants Megas for all the Elite Four and some later gym leaders.

Reigns in the experience share too. Contributed heavily to the "easy" reputation.

Doubts this actually happening. Will eventually remake Generation 6 as Pointy X / Sharp Y or something like that. Expects the same story. Costs money to create something new. (Might fix the Experience Share problem, though.)

Other considerations: Single-player TCG game, Fire Emblem-like spinoff, and older Paper Mario-like spinoff.

Oh, wow. That's a lot to think about!

I think I'd go with a Legends Arceus style game. Set in the past, evolved to fully open world. I'd set it in historical Kalos or Galar because I'm a Western European history nerd and thus kinda biased. lol Or could go with an entirely new region, like one based on ancient Greece.

Another choice is giving Black/White a remake that matches Gen IX. That is, not like BD/SP, but like Scarlet/Violet... Or at the very least Sword/Shield with a controllable camera. Of course, I'd love to see X/Y remade in the same style, but I'd give B/W their remake first since they are the next generation to remake (and my favorite generation, anyway). I know it'd be an awkward transition to remake a non-open world game as an open world game, so Sw/Sh style is probably the best option. Way better than BD/SP either way.

I'd go with an expanded gen 6 remake with more story elements with a custom difficulty settings at the beginning of the game to determine your wanted difficulty which effects how useful the exp. share is with the option to disable it all together. With an updated graphical style more kin to scarlet and violet, but more enhanced to release on the next generation switch console.

For a side game, I'd green light a new Pokemon TCG game for the TCG fans.

    👏 Johto 👏 on 👏 Switch 👏👏👏

Seriously, though, I'd really like a G/S/C remake on Switch before the console's lifespan ends. Go back to the pre-S/V graphical style, give it the colorful charm of the Let's Go games and Sw/Sh, but keep the full-body/non-chibi sprites; after all, why else do you think they made Sanqua from PLA look so similar to her descendant Karen? At this point, having made PLA and S/V, Game Freak should be fully ready to bring both Kanto and Johto together in one game and give them both just as much, if not more attention than they received in HG/SS.

Alternatively... what about a G/S/C sequel? It could be one that takes place just a few years after those games, one that is as distant in time as a certain Italian fangame, or a far-future sequel featuring the descendants of the characters we all know and love. There are so many routes they could take with it!

    Came here to say ^
A Johto sequel in modern clothes please c: There's been so much Kanto in the past half-decade, let's use Johto and 2nd gen pokemon now. And Johto deserves a game with cooler plot and more characters than the original half-flat "kanto sequel".

I want another Legends-style game please. And yes we need another Johto game on the Switch! Literally my favorite region ever.

I strongly agree with this. I would also love to see a Unova remake on the Nintendo Switch as well, or whatever updated console Nintendo might have in the future.

a new entry in the pokemon colosseum/XD line. instead of a direct sequel, it'd rather be a spiritual sequel kinda thing. the whole point of both of those games was to showcase "hey, pokemon in 3D, and you can play on your TV!" sorta thing, and with the novelty of that having worn off for years now, i think a different approach would be best.

perhaps a game in which cipher has become a thing of the past. being defeated twice, and with the masterminds already in custody, the remaining members who did flee into the shadows thought twice about resurrecting the former evil team. with cipher dealt with, perhaps there's a bigger threat to worry about than sealing the hearts of pokemon. whatever that is, i think that would probably be the premise of the next entry i would make.
