[PokeCommunity.com] VGPOTW #20: Battle of Last Generation Consoles

Welcome to Video Game's Poll of the Week! Thanks to the permission of Pokemon General's moderator Brendino, Video Games will now be hosting a weekly series that pits certain video game characters, levels, and universes against other to see which one will come out on top! In last week's Poll of the Week, Kirby sucked and threw it's competition off of the map as PokeCommunity's favorite original Super Smash Bros. character!
Don't just vote; expand on your answers! Tell us why you prefer one video game element over another! Posts that don't elaborate as to why specific elements were chosen will be deleted, and a warning may be given out through an infraction if it's a reoccurring issue.
If you have a matchup that you would like to see, whether between video game characters or worlds/universes, send me a VM or PM and if your matchup gets chosen then an emblem will be given out as a reward!

    Without further ado:

Between the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii, which was your favorite console to play?

When it comes to the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii, my vote is for the Xbox 360. My main reason for voting for it is because I have been a Xbox 360 user since 2007. As for the Wii and PS3, well I did not become a Wii user until 2008 and I have never used a PS3. Course another reason is that I like Microsoft more than Nintendo and Sony.

I'd have to say the Wii. I didn't have a lot of games for it because a lot of stuff didn't interest me for a while, but the games that I did have I loved playing and were a lot more fun than the traditional gaming experience that you would get with xbox or playstation. But the 360 comes in real close for second since it actually has a lot of games I like.

PS3 sort of wins by default for me since I never had a Wii and my 360 red ringed a few months after I bought it. I don't consider those to be big losses, though, since I haven't been interested in many of the Nintendo home console games since the SNES and most of the games I'd want for the 360 I can get on PS3/PC anyway.

In my humble opinion. The Wii had the best library of games with all the Nintendo IPs and exclusives like Xenoblade.

And that, is why it was my favorite.

(Not to mention that I didn't own the others. :P)

Agh, this is actually very difficult. Whilst the PS3 has dozens of games I love - and is still going strong - the Wii has Xenoblade Chronicles. Nothing on the PS3 even comes remotely close to measuring up to Xenoblade, in any way. But asides from Xenoblade, there is very little to recommend the Wii...at least, nowhere near as much as the PS3.

So I'm going with the PS3, for the sheer number of games it has - and will soon have - that appeal to me. I've played my Wii for a fraction of the time I've played my PS3 and, whilst it has access to my Gamecube library, the PS3 has access to several high quality PS1 and PS2 classics, which negates the advantage somewhat.

I really have no preference between the PS3 and Xbox 360, as I've played a good amount of each both for work and leisure, but since I've been loyal to Sony since the original Playstation, the PS3 got my vote in the poll. I never really found myself interested in the Wii, even though I thought it was a good idea, it seemed more like a novelty gaming system to me versus the 360 & PS3.

The Wii didn't have much stand out games and wasn't really a fan of the nunchuks for some games. Playstation 4 was meh. The Xbox 360 had nice games and although the huge controllers, I found myself always wanting to play more games with my friend at his place with his 360. So I'd say imo, 360 was the better console for the last gen.

I think mine would have to be the Wii. Even if I didn't end up having all too many games for it, there were plenty that took good advantage of the Wii Remote's motion sensor, and some that had different mechanics such as the Wii Wheel with Mario Kart. And it had Brawl, although again there weren't as many games they were a lot of fun. Not to mention it felt revolutionary with what it did.

In my personal experience, Xbox 360 was the better experience, mostly because it was 1) what everyone I knew had first, 2) Halo was released for it and Halo was 2nd only to Smash Bros for social play in my friend group, 3) it had more games than the Wii that my group played socially (shooters, non-Mario Kart racers, etc) and 4) I've only had a PS3 for a year, while I've had access to or owned a 360 for 7 years now.

This was a tough one between Wii and 360, But it had to be 360 in the end, even though it lacked a lot of titles the PS3 had, (I never had a PS3). I had lots of fun on the 360. Even If I hate the money grabbing ways of Xbox live, 360 was always a good split screen multiplayer machine and the racing and football games I used to play a lot back then were good on 360.
The Wii for me will always be in the Gamecube's shadow (The Gamecube being my favorite ever console), the wii remote and nunchuk wasnt a great control method and the only Wii games I played in large amounts where Fire Emblem radiant dawn, Mario Kart Wii and Smash Bros brawl.

"You know what they should copy? They should copy how to get good game. PS3 make da bes games."

I've had a PS3 for a week and I'm voting for it lol. However, the Wii isn't far behind. It's what I've spent the most time on as far as last gen consoles go and I love it to death, but I have never binge played that thing like I just did the PS3. Welp.

    I have a 360, but it's the most ignored console I own. Sorry bout'cha.
