Am I the only one who doesn't like dark/night mode?

So, alright, going to be honest.

Dark Mode and Night Mode on websites honestly hurt my eyes. I can't look at my keyboard in the morning because it's black and it makes the keyboard look fuzzy.

I know that not liking Dark Mode is controversial, but it just really affects me in ways.

am I weird?
Am I the only one who feels this way?
(This is why I don't use Discord btw).

Hey, opinions are opinions and there's nothing wrong with it! Whatever makes you the most comfortable is what matters. :)

I like dark modes personally, but maybe that's because I tend to do most of my computing at night. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You can change Discord to light mode. In your settings under App Settings > Appearance.

But no, I can't relate. I dark mode as many things as I can. But I don't like bright white against the black background. I like a darker grey color. If it's bright white against black, it makes my eyes go funny and my brain breaks. That's also why I need my text to be big enough that even Helen Keller can read it.

I honestly used to be... The opposite. Used to hate white on black back when everyone hated dark skins on forums.

But, I get why people don't like light mode. I guess my eyes are just...weird.

I feel like one of the few people on the planet who doesn't like dark mode. Especially since I used to be the opposite as a kid when barely anyone used even dark skins on this website, for example...

Everyone has different tastes. I like the lower contrast that dark modes provide but if light mode is preferred by others, who am I to say anything.

That said, some people can be so weird about it, going so far as to insult people for using light mode. It's ridiculous.

Discord has a light mode, but personally it depends for me.

Discord, Twitter, Reddit, Youtube, Google are all Dark mode, but for some reason I want this site on a Light theme. Feels more natural that way~

I am the same. I definitely prefer light mode. Except for some apps, Dark Mode and Night Mode feel "incomplete" to me, if this makes any sense. I am just used to bright things. Even my computer and phone, I feel like I can't see if they aren't at least at 80/90% brightness.
It may be just me and maybe I am weird lol, but I guess it's just how I am used to.
Like even Google Dark Mode, I am like "I can't see" and I feel kinda disoriented. Many other apps too.

It depends -- too much white on my screen causes eye-strain headaches, so I ideally find a soft, off-white middle-ground. Let's Fly Together (the forum skin) is great for this reason. I can't use the forums on dark mode, which is odd since I vastly prefer night mode on the majority of websites, especially Discord, which is otherwise very blindingly white. They REALLY need a middle-ground (like custom colours/tones). PFPs and role colours look so much better to me on dark mode, haha

Oh yeah, it also depends what time of day it is! I switch everything to night mode in the evening, since a glaring white screen is of course gonna keep your mind awake longer and ultimately make you more fatigued

You're not alone. Back when I was Terminally Online (TM), I did use to prefer dark mode because it allowed me to indulge in problematic internet use without killing my eyesight. A couple of my former friends also played a part in it, because they openly shamed me for using light mode - and I, like the simp I used to be, took their word to heart. Then the pandemic hit, and being online for school as well as social media forced me to reconsider how and who I spent my time online for the sake of my mental health, so I drastically cut back on screen time. Naturally, that also caused my eyes to grow unused to dark mode.

Nowadays, I use most sites on light mode except here and Discord. Here, I'd miss Koga and the rest of the Gen II Elite Four if I changed it. Discord, I'm too lazy to change it and too busy talking to my pals to actually do it whenever I'm on. But hey, at least typing it out will help me remember to change it next time I log in!

EDIT: To hell with the Elite Four (for now), I've switched over to the default PokéCommunity theme and it reads much better. Also, forgot to remark on one thing; Light Mode works better for me if the letters aren't #000000. A very dark or medium gray works well.

I use dark mode for everything, (if it has the option) because light mode makes my eyes hurt just looking at it for a couple of minutes,
Also idk if any of y'all know this but dark mode acctuly saves battery life because the parts of your screen that are black are usually off, and if you have light mode on your whole screen is on so it uses more battery life, (just thought I'd throw that out there for y'all dark mode users) but I know a lot of people who prefer light mode honestly it's just a buch of mixed opinions

Honestly I totally get it. This was me for the longest time, I used light mode for everything.. but then when I got used to using Discord I adjusted more to dark mode and use it more often nowadays. One of the few exceptions is PC, I just love the light themes here. But I was in your exact shoes for so, so long lol.

i cannot use PC in dark mode, it's kind of strange actually ahah. I guess I'm so used to seeing it be bright. With Discord, it's the opposite, and I also prefer Reddit in darkmode. But twitter in bright mode. Idk. It's a mess.

i use night mode on mostly everything lol idk it's more soothing to my eyes

that said, i'm not opposed to using lighter skins as long as they aren't... blinding
